摘要: A method of tinting or coloring glass. The following layers are deposited onto the glass: a first dielectric layer, a subcritical metallic layer; a primer layer; and a second dielectric layer. Alternatively, these layers may be deposited onto the glass: a first dielectric layer, a subcritical metallic layer; and a second dielectric layer. Alternatively, the invention is a coated article that includes a substrate, a first dielectric layer, an absorbing layer, and a second dielectric layer over the primer layer. The absorbing layer can be Inconel, titanium nitride, cobalt chrome (stellite), or nickel chrome material, and has a thickness in the range of 50 Å to 150 Å.

摘要: A coating provides a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) and a low overall heat transfer coefficient (U-value) to trap and retain solar heat. The coating and coated article are particularly useful for use in architectural transparencies in northern climates. The coating includes a first dielectric layer; a continuous metallic layer formed over at least a portion of the first dielectric layer, the metallic layer having a thickness less than 8 nm; a primer layer formed over at least a portion of the metallic layer; a second dielectric layer formed over at least a portion of the primer layer; and an overcoat formed over at least a portion of the second dielectric layer. When used on a No. 3 surface of a reference IGU, the coating provides a SHGC of greater than or equal to 0.6 and a U-value of less than or equal to 0.35.

摘要: Flexible plastic screen for glasses, sunglasses or helmet faceshields with controlled light transmission based on applied electrical voltage. The screen consists of two transparent flexible conductive polymer electrodes disposed and an electrochromic layer disposed between them. The electrochromic layer is a homogeneous mixture of active electrochromic components dissolved in a polymer matrix. The electrochromic screen is operable to vary the light transmission of any wearable electro-optical devices, such as the glasses, for creating an effect of a blackout for augmented/virtual reality glasses.
