摘要: A laser resonator comprising a specially designed front mirror 32. The front mirror 32 together with a rear mirror form a resonator cavity. As well as having a resonator cavity reflective surface 42, the front mirror 32 also has an output coupling reflective surface 44 which forms a continuation of the resonator cavity reflective surface 42 and extends at an angle thereto so as to direct a beam laterally out of the cavity. The output coupling reflective surface 44 and the resonator cavity reflective surface 44 are joined by a “soft” rounded edge 40 of arcuate cross-section, this rounded transition suppressing diffraction ripples that would otherwise be generated if the edge were “hard”, i.e. sharp.

Some or all of the symbol waveforms in each alphabet may not be present in other alphabets.

摘要: Improved battery systems, apparatuses, and methods for use in electric air, land, and marine vehicles and mobile, portable, and stationary electrical appliances and devices are provided. The systems employ acoustic and current manipulation of anode interface deposits including dendrites on or proximate lithium and other anodes. This invention may employ multistatic ultrasonic phased arrays and current modulation to 1) minimize deposit, e.g., dendrite, initiation and formation by acoustic stirring, 2) acoustically image dendritic growths to monitor changes in dendrite growths, 3) cue dendrite cleaning and battery shutdown to avoid short circuit, 4) induce failure in dendritic structure and shearing of at least a portion of the dendrite from the anode, and 5) transport sheared dendrites and other dead metal to a graveyard.

摘要: Impact wrenches of the present invention generally include a handle including a slide hammer that is movable relative to a head end of the wrenches. The head includes a force translation portion positioned to translate force applied to the force translation portion from the slide hammer to rotate a tool connected to the force translation portion. When the tool is engaged with a rotatable fitting a substantially linear force applied with the slide hammer may be translated to the tool, which converts at least a portion of the force to a rotational force to loosen or tighten the fitting.

摘要: A module accommodates multiple superluminescent light emitting diodes, SLEDs, 12r, 12g and 12b. The SLEDs are arranged in an enclosure and output respective light beams to propagate into free space within the enclosure. The individual light beams from the SLED sources are combined into a single beam path within the enclosure using beam combiners 40r-g, 40rg-b. Each beam combiner is realized as a planar optical element, the back side of which is arranged to receive a SLED beam and route it through the optical element to the front side where it is combined with another SLED beam that is incident on and reflected by the front side. The free-space propagating combined beam is output from the module via an optical fiber 42 (or through a window).

摘要: Apparatuses and methods of the present invention improve the ease of use characteristics of handheld computer, such as a tablet, by providing a handheld apparatus that may be married with the computer to enable the computer to be held in an ergonomic position for use. The apparatus may include a base, an electronic retaining portion (ERP) and a contoured handle having a gripping plane that is substantially parallel to a tablet retention plane of the electronic retaining portion in which the computer is retained with its screen in the tablet retention plane. In various embodiments, the apparatus may include the ERP having a tablet retention plane and a contoured handle cooperating with the ERP, the contoured handle having a shape defining a gripping plane substantially parallel to the tablet retention plane, where the ERP is rotatable relative to the handle. The apparatus may be further configured to provide an office and “on-the-go” experience by cooperating with a functionality expandability station that provides access to multiple peripherals such as a keyboard, multi-monitors, USB ports, speakers ports, batteries or other energy sources and re-chargeability of an on-the-go handheld power source, thereby enabling a desktop/laptop main computer experience.

摘要: A low noise, single mode laser includes a semiconductor gain element generating light and having a highly reflective first end forming a first end of a laser cavity. The gain element may be monolithically or discretely integrated with, or distinct from, and coupled to a waveguide comprised of a low loss material with a refractive index ‘n’ greater than 3. The waveguide includes a Bragg grating forming the second end of the laser cavity. A cavity phase control section may be provided between the gain element and the Bragg grating. Two photodetector monitors provide a feedback signal for locking the light from the gain element to a specific wavelength on the Bragg grating reflection spectrum by varying at least one of the cavity phase control section and the gain element bias current. The Bragg grating may have a physical length larger than 10 mm and that occupies at least 50% of the optical length of the external cavity.

摘要: A laser including: a gain chip; an external cavity incorporating a Bragg grating; and a baseplate; wherein a first end of the gain chip has a high reflectivity facet forming a first end of the laser cavity; a second end of the gain chip has a low reflectivity facet; and a second part of the external cavity comprises a Bragg grating, supported by the baseplate, the temperature of the baseplate being maintained through a feedback loop; wherein the optical length of the external cavity is at least an order of magnitude greater than the optical length of the gain chip; wherein the Bragg grating is physically long and occupies a majority of the length of the external cavity and is apodized to control the sidemodes of the grating reflection.
