Abstract: A releasable hook for cargo support, such as commonly used with helicopters, including a pivotally mounted load arm held in the load supporting position by a pivotally mounted latch arm whose position is controlled by a pivotally mounted latch. The relationships of interengaging surfaces to hold the load arm in position is such that disengaging surfaces roll relative to each other and relatively low loads result at critical locations, the apparatus operates with low release forces and improved life and dependability is achieved as compared with previously known cargo hook constructions.

Abstract: A spring for a composite sealing ring of the type having a channel-shaped jacket. The spring comprises an annular member of U-shaped cross section, the web of the U engaging the web of the jacket, the flanges of the U pressing against the flanges of the jacket and having a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots. In one form, useful primarily for radial seals, the spring comprises a sinuous member bent to form the web and flanges. In another form, useful for face seals, the web is circumferentially continuous and the flanges are formed by spaced legs. The spring is fabricated by first forming it in flat shape and then bending the flanges out of the plane of the web. The flat blank may be made by a photoetch process or, in the case of the sinuous embodiment, bending a wire into sinuous shape, flattening the wire and then bending the flanges away from the web.

Abstract: A fluid-tight connection which enables an open tube end to be secured to a fitting in the field without soldering. The connection comprises a body having a bore for receiving the tube end, the bore having wider and narrower portions with a tapered portion therebetween A ferrule and a nut are slipped onto the tube which is inserted in the body bore against a shoulder. The ferrule has a thin-walled forward section which will be deflected inwardly by the tapered bore portion as the nut is tightened, biting into the tube wall to form a primary seal between the ferrule and tube. A sharp edge on the body digs into a tapered surface on the ferrule to form a primary seal between these two parts. A backup seal between the ferrule and tube is formed by a weakened rearward ferrule section forced inwardly by a tapered surface on the nut.

Abstract: A pair of plate members have aligned apertures in which are mounted interfitting coupling elements. Pilot pins mounted on one of the members guide them into facing relation so that the coupling elements are connected. The members are held in coupled relation by toggle links at opposite ends of the members.
