摘要： To the milk or other catalase-containing liquid, mainly of biological origin, are added a reagent comprising a substance which releases hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a substance available in the milk or other liquid, and another reagent which, upon oxidation by hydrogen peroxide, yields a color reaction, the catalase content being determined qualitatively and quantitatively with the aid of the hue of the color thus produced. A device for carrying out this assay method comprises the two reagents separated physically from each other by a space through which the generated hydrogen peroxide can diffuse and which is capable of admitting the milk or other liquid.

摘要： A stationary part has a conduit for supplying fluid to a passage located in a rotary part on the rotation axis thereof, the supply conduit having a valve seat. A body comprising a magnetizable material has a fluid-transferring channel coaxial with the rotation axis and includes a valve element; and an electromagnet is operable on this body to hold the valve element against the seat to close the supply conduit against the fluid pressure therein. Upon deenergizing of the electromagnet, the fluid pressure in the supply conduit displaces said body axially so as to unseat the valve element and engage the body with the rotating part, whereby the passage therein is supplied with fluid through said channel in the body.

摘要： Each side of the plate has two distribution surfaces provided with pressed ridges extending side-by-side from an inlet hole and an outlet hole, respectively, to a centrally located main heat exchanging surface, the back sides of the troughs between the ridges forming the ridges on the opposite side of the plate. The troughs are wider than the ridges, so as to reduce the flow resistance along each distribution surface; but this width difference is less at those regions of the distribution surface which are close to said main surface than at other regions of the distribution surface, whereby the contact areas formed by crossing and abutting ridges of adjacent plates in a heat exchanger are greater at said close regions where they must transmit greater forces.

摘要： Each unit of a heat-sensitive product is contacted directly or indirectly with a cooling medium so that the unit acquires a condition in which a surface layer thereof has a lower temperature than its inner portions. The product unit is then heated, by electro-manetic energy of at least microwave frequency, from this condition to substantially the desired sterilizing or pasteurizing temperature in a medium having a temperature which will permit such heating. In this way, a substantially uniform heat treatment effect is obtained in the product units.

摘要： The distribution surface of each heat exchange plate has furrows and ridges extending between the inlet opening and the main heat exchanging surface of the plate. A gasket groove adjacent the distribution surface has a side wall formed by one of the ridges and merging into the bottom of the gasket groove along a continuous line. The side of this one ridge remote from the groove is provided with recesses forming extensions of the bottom of the furrow next to this ridge, these extensions being in the direction toward the gasket groove and being aligned with the regions where said furrow bottom is supported by the ridges of the adjacent plate. The latter ridges extend sufficiently to engage these extensions of the furrow bottom, thereby lending support to the bottom of the gasket groove.

The system also includes an emptying station located in said path for emptying the containers, and a treating station located in said path for washing and disinfecting the containers and their teat cup clusters.
