摘要: A bi-layered superhydrophobic membrane includes top and base layers formed from polypropylene. The bi-layered superhydrophobic membrane can have a thickness ranging from about 100 μm to about 1 mm. When subjected to oil-water emulsion separations, the superhydrophobic membrane can achieve an organic solvent flux of 14,000 Lm−2h−1 with a 96% water rejection. The bi-layered superhydrophobic membrane can be effectively used for water filtration, providing both selectivity and permeability, while offering an eco-friendly solution for reuse of polypropylene plastic waste.

摘要: A process for removing or reducing the accumulation of fouling deposits within furnaces and heat exchangers in industrial systems by introducing a periodic steam blast. The steam blast is directed into the process fluid from which fouling deposits precipitate onto the heat exchanger surfaces. The steam blast increases the flow rates, creates turbulence and increases the temperature within the heat exchanger to dislodge foulant in both soft and hardened states from internal surfaces upon which foulants have adhered and accumulated.

摘要: The invention is directed to systems, apparatus and methods for demulsifying an emulsion, and generating plasma enhanced treatment fluids, with at least one plasma reactor to produce plasma in reaction with the emulsion to cause flocculation and coalescence in the emulsion for phase separation of the constituents and chemical reaction with reactor fluids. After separation, the separated constituents in the emulsion are removed from the reaction chamber for processing of further emulsion. Plasma enhanced treatment fluids are removed from the reaction chamber and used in further processes. According to an example, the emulsion may be a crude oil emulsion with the separated crude oil produced for further processing or sale. The systems, apparatus and methods also produce plasma enhanced treatment fluids that may be reused in other oil recovery processes for example.

摘要: This disclosure relates to new filtration systems, granular substrates, granular media and processes that are highly effective for removing suspended oil, particulates and oily particulates from an oil-water mixture. The new filtration media comprises a microporous granular substrate having a combination of specified micro-porosity, hardness and additional characteristics, the substrate being modified by an infused or coated absorption composition. This resulting filtration media displays excellent filtration performance, including outstanding durability and robustness to sustain its excellent performance over a large number of backwash cycles.
