摘要： A propagation apparatus includes a plurality of dispersion compensation execution units which accept a signal of a single wavelength from a wavelength-multiplexed signal which is received and execute dispersion compensation on the signal by inputting the accepted signal to a tunable dispersion compensator with an adjusted dispersion value, and a dispersion value calculation unit which acquires each dispersion value adjusted by the plurality of the dispersion compensation execution units, approximates the dispersion value of the wavelength assigned to a newly built line by using the acquired dispersion values whose signal error rates are in a tolerable range, and sets the approximated dispersion value as an initial value in the tunable dispersion compensator of the newly built line.

摘要： An optical pickup which has a failure prediction apparatus for predicting a failure of a laser diode has an input inputting a value of a current that flows through the laser diode and is measured at predetermined time intervals, a storage storing the current values inputted by said input, a detector detecting a current value that is a current value at any one of the measurement times of day stored in said storage and that has a change greater than or equal to a predetermined value relative to the current value at the preceding measurement time of day, and a generator generating a prediction curve that indicates a relationship between said elapsed time and the current value applicable at and after the measurement time of day of the current value detected by said detector.

摘要： A method of connecting a line concentrator to other line concentrators in a switching system, wherein a switching unit accommodates the line concentrator is provided. The method includes the steps of analyzing a call received by the switching unit through the line concentrator, and connecting lines that are accommodated by the line concentrator and are connected to the other line concentrators without connecting through the switching unit when the call is detected to be made between the line concentrator and the other line concentrators. Thus, a call can be made to a specific dial number without connecting through the switching unit provided in the switching system. Additionally, a call can also be made by use of another switching unit when a communication path between the switching unit and the line concentrator is overcrowded.
