    摘要: A method of performing compressed mode measurements for selecting communication means in a communication system. Statistics are collected on handovers from a cell in a communications system to a plurality of other cells in the communications system. A cell load of each cell of the plurality of other cells is weighted by a percentage of handovers from the cell to the respective one of the plurality of other cells. A threshold is determined based on the weighted cell loads. The threshold can be used to trigger a load based handover from the cell to one of the plurality of other cells.

    摘要: A method of selecting a cell for handover of a mobile station to another communication system. A command is sent to a mobile station from a first network element. The command includes a request to perform compressed mode measurements at the mobile station of a neighboring cell. The neighboring cell uses a different communication means than the first network element. Compressed mode measurement results are received from the mobile station at the first network element. The received compressed mode measurement results are weighted with indicators of a prioritized neighbor cell list to form a prioritized list. A second command is sent to the mobile station from the first network element. The second command includes a second request to decode identification codes at the mobile station based on the prioritized list. An indicator of a suitable cell from the prioritized list is received from the mobile station at the first network element. An instruction is sent to the mobile station from the first network element after receiving the indicator. The instruction stops decoding identification codes at the mobile station.

    摘要: A solution for optimizing beamforming configurations and transmit power allocation configurations in a telecommunication system comprising a base station and a plurality of user entities is provided. The base station and the user entities are capable of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, i.e. capable of communicating through spatial subchannels. The base station calculates iteratively optimal beamforming configurations for the base station and for each user entity and transmit power allocation configurations for each spatial subchannel used in MIMO communications. The base station carries out the calculation on the basis of channel state information received from the user entities by utilizing the information on correlation of different spatial subchannels, i.e. interference between the subchannels, in order to update beamforming configurations and transmit power allocation configurations.

    摘要: The invention relates to a radio resource control method, a mobile communications system and a network element implementing the method. According to the invention, the cell change procedures performed by the user equipment in an idle state are controlled dynamically with control information that is adjusted according to a predetermined time pattern. The invention enables for instance an advanced cell change in an idle state, thus reducing the probability of a handover while the user equipment is in a dedicated connection to the network.
