    Abstract: According to an aspect, one or more network nodes of a wireless communication system sends, to a wireless device operating in the wireless communication system, mobility reference signal (MRS) configuration information, the MRS configuration information specifying one or more parameters for each of a plurality of MRS configurations. The network node subsequently sends, to the wireless device, an activation command indicating that at least a first one of the MRS configurations is to be used by the wireless device, the activation command including an index identifying the first one of the MRS configurations from among the plurality of MRS configurations. The wireless device receives the MRS configuration information and the activation command. The wireless device searches for at least one MRS specified by the first one of the MRS, responsive to the activation command and performs at least one measurement on the at least one MRS.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to method and apparatus for performing a measurement wireless communications. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method performed by a wireless device comprises: receiving measurement configurations from a network, each of the measurement configurations mapping to a corresponding signal quality range; measuring a first signal quality for a serving cell at a first time point and a second signal quality for the serving cell at a second time point after the first time point; identifying a signal quality range to which a difference between the first signal quality and the second signal quality belongs; and performing a measurement based on a measurement configuration mapped to the identified signal quality range.

    Abstract: Provided is a selective handover of a mobile device connection between first and second transceivers of a wireless communication network. While a wireless communication module of the mobile device is communicatively coupled to the first transceiver, measurements of signal reliability between the wireless communication module and each of the first and second transceivers are obtained. The communicative coupling is then selectively transitioned to the second transceiver based on a comparison of a predefined offset value and a difference between the second signal reliability value and the first signal reliability value, and also based on a comparison of a predefined threshold value and the second signal reliability value. The disclosed selective handover has reduced risk of handover failure and handover drop, without perceivable decrease in signal strength or quality, among other advantages.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for identifying backup candidate cell sites for a primary cell site are described. A backup candidate cell site may comprise a cell site that is available to replace or support a primary cell site that serves a coverage area in the event that the primary cell site fails or experiences a significant reduction in signal transmission capability. The backup candidate cell sites may be identified based on a distance between a backup candidate cell site and the primary cell site, a minimum distance between the backup candidate cell site and one or more hosted sites that comprise sources of signal interference, and a buffer range between the antenna height for the primary cell site and the backup candidate cell site. Height conflicts occurring between cell site antennas and clutter within proximity of the antennas may be identified.

    Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for handling layer 3 measurements of a UE. A method is performed by a CU of an access network node. The CU is operatively connected to a DU of the access network node. The method includes configuring the UE to perform layer 3 measurements. The UE is configured to perform layer 3 measurements according to measurement IDs coordinated between the CU and the DU. A first subset of the measurement IDs is associated with the CU and a second subset of the measurement IDs is associated with the DU. The method includes obtaining a report with a layer 3 measurement from the UE. The report has one of the measurement IDs. The method includes performing an action that depends on the layer 3 measurement in the report only when the measurement ID of the report is one of the measurement IDs in the first subset.

    Abstract: Methods, a first, and a second network node as well as a user equipment for exchange of measurement period related parameters are provided. The user equipment performs a method for measuring a measurement quantity of a secondary cell on a second carrier operated by a second radio network node. The user equipment receives, from the second radio network node, an indication indicative of the second carrier and a first parameter indicating a measurement period for measuring the measurement quantity of the secondary cell. The user equipment measures said measurement quantity on the secondary cell on the second carrier over the measurement period. The measurement period is a predefined value times the first parameter.
