摘要:
A dynamic resource allocation method and apparatus for broadband services in a wireless communications system. The communications system can have a number of cells, each of which has multiple sectors. Each sector can contain a number of communications sites. Information is transmitted in time subframes scheduled to avoid interference between the sectors and cells, and different degrees of concurrent packet transmission can be scheduled for different classes of communications sites. The communications sites can be classified based on reception quality, such as by comparing their measured signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) with a SIR threshold.

In an imperfect mesh network or in a star network, the directionality of transmission and reception at each node, as through a directional antenna, is selected to maximize combined or multiple-link end-to-end information throughput. To this end, a maximum throughput metric is provided for separate links through the network between a source node and a collection of end-point nodes to be optimized which is based on 1) measurement of link quality with respect to neighboring nodes and 2) information about link quality and other factors related to propagation delay or “latency” as reported to it by other nodes regarding their neighboring links, and 3) based upon the busy-ness or capacity utilization at each link.
摘要:
A method and apparatus for sector based resource allocation in a broadband wireless communications system. A service region is divided into a plurality of cells, and each cell is divided into a plurality of labeled sectors. Each label is selected to avoid an unacceptable amount of interference from any other sector while ensuring that at least two sectors in a cell share the same label. Transmissions are scheduled for a cell by assigning each communications site a channel, such as a time slot associated with the sector's label. The transmissions are then communicated according to this schedule.
