    摘要: An object detecting optical unit for detecting a direction or a position of an object placed on a detecting plane surface is disclosed. The optical unit detects existence or non existence of a retroreflective light reflected by a retroreflective member. A light projection device is formed by a plurality of light sources and corresponding lenses, arranged in to form a fan shaped projection pattern parallel to the detecting plane surface, the projection pattern being as if projected from a virtual one point light source. A light receiving device is included which has a slit or lens and linear photoreceptive group, arranged in such a manner as to form a light receiving pattern with a view field corresponding to the fan shaped projection pattern. A position coordinate input apparatus using the optical unit is also disclosed.

    摘要: A transmitter pulse circuit produces two-phase pulse trains containing a certain number of pulse edges corresponding to an integral number represented by binary parallel bits of a data value to be transferred. The transmitter responds to a coordinate data value derived from a digitizer. The receiver includes a counter for counting pulse edges contained in the two-phase pulse trains, and a retrieving circuit for retrieving intermittently the counted contents to determine the number of received pulse edges. The counting circuit and the retrieving circuit constitute together a bus mouse interface of a host computer in the receiver. The coordinate data can be transferred to the host computer through the bus mouse interface without using a general RS-232C interface, thereby efficiently improving the host computer multiple terminal processing capacity.

    摘要: A digitizer for determining coordinate value of a point designated on a given two-dimensional coordinate plane. A pointing instrument is manually operable to designate a point on the given two-dimensional coordinate plane of a tablet. The tablet includes a flat sensor defining the given two-dimensional coordinate plane and operative for transmitting magnetic signal between the flat sensor and the pointing instrument disposed thereon to detect the designated point to thereby produce a detection signal, and a shielding plate disposed under the flat sensor to magnetically shield the flat sensor. The shielding plate is composed of silicon steel containing 4.0 to 7.0 weight % of silicon. A processing circuit is connected to the flat sensor for processing the detection signal to determine the coordinate value of the designated point.

    摘要: A position detecting apparatus has a plurality of magnetostrictive transmission medium elements which are arranged substantially in parallel with one another. A first coil and a second coil are wound around these elements such that signals are exchanged between these coils through the intermediary of the magnetostrictive transmission medium elements. The electric-mechanical coupling coefficient of the magnetostrictive transmission medium elements is locally changed by a magnetism from a position appointing magnetism generator so as to appoint a position on a plane provided by the magnetostrictive transmission medium elements, and the appointed position is detected through detection of a change in the timing of a signal caused by the local change in the above-mentioned coefficient. The position appointing magnetism generator is not connected to any portion of the stationary part of the apparatus. The apparatus is capable of detecting the appointed position at a high resolution, even when the position appointing magnetism generator is spaced apart vertically from the position detecting region. This apparatus is usable also for a moving object, with the position appointing magnetism generator affixed to the moving object.

    摘要: The position of an object including a retroreflector is determined by scanning first and second optical beams toward an axis on a planar surface from spaced sites on opposite sides of the axis. The scanned beams are incident on and reflected from the retroreflector along coincident first and second paths between the sites and the retroreflector. Indications are derived of first and second angles between a baseline between the sites and the first and second paths extending between the sites and the retroreflector. In response to the known distance between the sites and the derived indications of the first and second angles a two-coordinate direction indication of the retroreflector position is derived. The retroreflector refracts and reflects the scanned optical beams incident thereon and refracts the beams reflected thereby.

    摘要: A position detecting apparatus for detecting a position appointed by a position appointing magnetism generator 7. The apparatus has at least one magnetostrictive transmission medium 1 and a first coil 2 and a second coil 5 around the medium 1 in such a manner that signals are exchanged between these coils 2,5 through the intermediary of the magnetostrictive transmission medium 1. The electro-magnetic coupling coefficient of the magnetostrictive transmission medium 1 is locally changed at a selected position by the position appointing magnetism generator 7, and this position is detected through the detection of timing of change in the signal level attributable to the change of the above-mentioned coefficient. The magnetism generator 7 need not be connected to any portion of the apparatus, and yet the appointed position can be detected at a high resolution even if the position appointing magnetism generator 7 is vertically spaced considerably from the position detection range. This apparatus can be used, for example, in the detection of position of a moving object, by attaching the position appointing magnetism generator to the moving body while laying the magnetostrictive transmission medium along the path of movement of the moving body.
