    摘要: This specification discloses improvements in fluidized bed apparatus of the type including a treatment channel adapted to contain a bed of particulate material, means at one end of the treatment channel for feeding compacts into the bed of carrier, means for fluidizing the bed of carrier in such a manner as will result in the transport of carrier and compacts to the other end of the treatment channel, a plurality of means for the withdrawal of carrier from the treatment channel, means for reheating and/or mixing the carrier withdrawn from the treatment channel, a plurality of means for the return of carrier from said reheating and/or mixing means to the treatment channel, and means at the other end of the treatment channel for discharging compacts and/or carrier from the treatment channel, and wherein the reheater/mixer is located at an elevated position relative to the treatment channel and the carrier withdrawal means discharge into a carrier collector bin to which is connected a pneumatic carrier lifter which returns the carrier to the reheater/mixer.

    摘要: The disclosure of this specification relates to an easy-opening closure for a can end wherein the closure is defined by a portion of the end which is completely sheared from the end except at a plurality of positions defining retaining means. The material defining the retaining means is cold worked to be in tension, the material being deformed beyond its elastic limit so that removal of the closure is more readily achieved by applying a force to a pull tab connected to the closure. If the can is required to be hermetically sealed, a sealant is applied to at least the completely sheared regions of the can end.

    摘要: This specification discloses a carboniser for coal compacts comprising a treatment channel containing a bed of particulate carrier which is fluidized intermittently or continuously by means of fluid distributor pipes arranged near the bottom of the channel. The channel has a feed section, a treatment section and a discharge section and is connected with a reheater for the carrier. The carrier is transferred between the channel and the reheater by means of downcomers and carrier lifters, the introduction of carrier being near the bottom of the channel and its removal being near the top of the bed so that the carrier passes upwardly through the channel in a direction which is transverse to the direction of transport of the compacts and carrier. When the compacts and some carrier are discharged from the treatment channel, the carrier is separated from the compacts and returned to the feed section. The specification also describes a special feed section arrangement which reduces emission of pollutants at the point of introduction of the compacts to the treatment channel.

    摘要: This specification discloses a bulk material unloader of the type suitable for unloading materials from deep holds of bulk material carriers. In one preferred form of the invention, the unloader comprises a plurality of elevated wheels of open channel cross section divided into a plurality of material retaining pockets, said wheels being linked together in chain fashion whereby the contents of one wheel is directly discharged from each pocket into the wheel with which the first mentioned wheel is linked. The wheels are fed by a rotary digging bucket wheel and are supported by a frame which is pivotally mounted on a supporting bridge or the like. The digging bucket wheel is mounted on a frame which is pivotally mounted at the lower end of the elevator wheel frame and the two frames are pivotable about mutual perpendicular axes. In another form, the elevator wheels are arranged adjacent to each other with their planes of rotation substantially parallel and in overlapping relationship. Gravity transfer chutes extend between the adjacent wheels so that the material being elevated is discharged from one wheel to the other. Again, a digging bucket wheel feeds the lowermost wheel of the elevator.

    摘要: This specification dislcoses an easy-opening closure for a can end which comprises an opening formed by partially severing a portion from the can end to leave the portion attached thereto by an integral neck, and a closure member formed from said severed portion and which is larger than said opening. The sheet metal adjacent the free edge of the opening is downwardly turned while the sheet metal adjacent the free edge of the closure member is upwardly turned, said free edges being in contact with or in close proximity to each other. A sealant is applied at least in the region of the free edges if required by the purpose for which the can end is to be used. The specification also discloses a method of forming such a closure comprising the steps of: forming an upwardly directed bulge in the sheet metal, thus stretching the sheet; partially severing a central portion of said bulge, to define an opening and said severed portion defining a closure member for said opening, and displacing the closure member downwardly so that its free edge is below the free edge of the opening; partially flattening the thus truncated bulge of sheet metal around said opening to reduce its size, and turning downwardly said free edge defining said opening; partially flattening the closure member to increase its size, and turning upwardly said free edge of the closure member, the free edge portion of said closure member being in contact with or in close proximity to said free edge defining said opening, and applying a sealant at least in the region of the free edges of the opening and the closure member to seal the closure if required by the purpose for which said container member is to be used.

    摘要: A fluidized bed gas distributor is disclosed, wherein the gas distributor allows the fluidized bed to operate with intermittant fluidization, with substantial elimination of natural backflow of fluidized particles. The gas distributor comprises a pair of horizontal pipes disposed within one another, having an annular space thereinbetween. Holes are located in the inner pipe and the outer pipe for the passage of gas therethrough. The holes in the outer pipe are located in the lowermost one-third of the circumference of the pipe and are staggered in a circumferential and/or longitudinal direction relative to the holes in the inner pipe.
