Abstract: A network switch that incorporates memory that can be shared by computers or processors connected to the network switch is provided. The network switch of the present invention is particularly suitable for use in a computer cluster, such as a Beowulf cluster, in which each computer in the cluster can use the shared memory resident in at least one of the network switches.
