    Abstract: A child-resistant package includes a container having a finish with an open end, external thread, stop lug projecting radially outwardly from the finish, and a closure having a base wall, a skirt with internal thread for engagement with the thread on the container finish, spring element and pair of internal lugs on the skirt and extending radially inwardly from the skirt. Each pair of internal lugs includes a first lug that cooperates with the stop lug on the container finish to prevent unthreading of the closure from the finish absent pressure on the closure against the spring element to push the first lug beneath the corresponding stop lug on the container finish, and a second lug circumferentially spaced from the first lug that cooperates with the stop lug to prevent over tightening of the closure on the finish.

    Abstract: A compact (10) securely engaging an edge of a blister card (60) with a multiplicity of items (62) separately packaged thereon. The compact, which is formed from a molded blank (12) of a thermoplastic material, has first and second generally planar members (20, 22) separated from one other by parallel, generally rectangular portions or strips (24, 30) that are defined by three spaced apart fold lines (14, 16, 18). The generally rectangular strips are foldable about the centrally located of the fold lines (14) to overlie one another and to engage an edge of the blister card, and are locked in such overlying positions by engagement of locking posts (26, 28) on one of the strips with recesses (32, 34) on the other of the strips. Opposed ends of the compact have locking tabs (40, 42) that are received in recesses (44, 46) in a closed position of the compact, and these locking tabs must be simultaneously manually engaged to permit the compact to be opened. Further, a front edge of the compact, which extends between its opposed ends, has a latch (48) that must be manually depressed from engagement with a tab (50) by a second hand of a user simultaneously with manual engagement of the locking tabs (50) before the compact can be opened, which, in combination with the locking tabs, imparts child-resistant opening characteristics to the compact.

    Abstract: A child-resistant closure and container package includes a container having a finish with an external thread and pockets in the thread. A closure has a base wall, a peripheral skirt with an internal thread and lugs on the internal thread for receipt in the pockets, and a spring element on the base wall for engagement with the container finish to bias the closure away from the container finish and resiliently urge the lugs into the pockets. A liner is urged by the spring element into engagement with the container finish. The liner may include a base with metal and plastic layers for induction-welded sealing engagement with the finish such that, upon removal of the closure, the metal and plastic layers remain secured to the finish and the liner base is removed with the closure. The metal and plastic layers may be removed by a user for access to the contents of the container, and the liner base continues to serve as a package seal during use of the package.
