Abstract: A tamper-proof and child-proof closure for a medicine bottle or the like. The closure consists of an inner cap having threads on its inner surface mating with threads on the bottle neck and an outer overcap enclosing the inner cap and normally rotatable relative thereto. Co-operating clutch means on adjacent surfaces of the inner and outer caps are engageable for unscrewing the inner cap by moving at least part of the overcap axially toward the bottle and then rotating the overcap. The overcap has a removable skirt on its lower edge which initially engages the bottle shoulder near the neck to prevent the overcap from being moved into clutch engaging position until after the skirt has been removed.

Abstract: A child-resistant closure and container package includes a container having a finish with an external thread and pockets in the thread. A closure has a base wall, a peripheral skirt with an internal thread and lugs on the internal thread for receipt in the pockets, and a spring element on the base wall for engagement with the container finish to bias the closure away from the container finish and resiliently urge the lugs into the pockets. A liner is urged by the spring element into engagement with the container finish. The liner may include a base with metal and plastic layers for induction-welded sealing engagement with the finish such that, upon removal of the closure, the metal and plastic layers remain secured to the finish and the liner base is removed with the closure. The metal and plastic layers may be removed by a user for access to the contents of the container, and the liner base continues to serve as a package seal during use of the package.

Abstract: In a water bottle of the type for inverted insertion to a water cooler, the water bottle having a bottle body, a bottle neck terminating in a bottle opening, a cap assembly overlying and sealing the opening, an improvement to the cap assembly is disclosed. The cap body attaches the cap body to the water bottle at the neck overlying the opening. Two portions of the cap are present. Abstract: A child resistant package comprising an open-mouth container having a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections extending radially outwardly adjacent the open end thereof, each projection defines a notch facing downwardly, and a closure having a top panel and an annular skirt depending from the periphery of the top panel, and a plurality of radially inwardly extending and circumferentially spaced locking lugs on the inner surface of the skirt. The locking lugs are adapted to engage the notches in the projections on the container. A tamper-indicating member comprises an annular ring having portions extending between the lower edge of the skirt of the closure and a portion of the container and operable to normally limit axial movement of the closure. The ring offers a visual indication that the contents have not been tampered with and the ring must be removed before the closure can be removed. The container includes a specially designed inclined surface provided with dual slopes. One slope extends radially outwardly in a circumferential direction and the other slope extends downwardly and radially inwardly and terminates in a locking notch. The closure can be applied to the container when the tamper-indicating member is in position through rotation of the closure causing the cam lugs on the closure to engage the inclined surface and flex the skirt of the closure outwardly to thereby direct the cam lugs into engagement with the locking notch.

Abstract: There is disclosed a safety container closure attachable to the neck of a container or to a tubular base secured to the container. The safety closure comprises a screw cap which can be screwed off or on and constitutes the closure proper and a cover cap rotatably fitted upon the screw cap completely overlying the screw cap to prevent direct access to the same. The cover cap is normally biased into a position spaced apart from the screw cap so that rotation of the cover cap has no effect on the screw cap but can be axially depressed into a position in which it is coupled to the screw cap. With the cover cap in this coupling position, rotation of the cover cap causes rotation of the screw cap also thereby permitting opening or closing of the container.
