摘要: A system and method determines whether software includes malicious code. A validation machine is instrumented with tools and monitors that capture the static and dynamic behavior of software. Software under examination is executed on the validation machine, and the tools and monitors are used to log data representative of the behavior of the software to detect vulnerable or malicious code. If possible, one or more operations are automatically performed on the software to enhance the security of the software by neutralizing the vulnerable or malicious code. Activities that cannot be neutralized automatically are flagged for human inspection. The software executed on the validation machine may be source code or non-source code, with different operations being disclosed and described in each case.

摘要: Medical records, clinical observations, and medical imagery are organized and aggregated into a common database, enabling the data to be viewed and/or updated by medical practitioners world-wide. The information may also be viewed and monitored by patients or their relatives for accuracy, also regardless of their location. The invention further allows the records to be updated by manually controlled or automated instrumentation which measures medical parameters whether located in a doctors office, in a hospital setting, in the patient's home, or worn by the patient. Common access and point-to-point data transmission is via the global grid, or over public access common data networks supporting TCP/IP, most often referred to as the Internet. The same approach can be using insider an organization over an internal network or Intranet.

摘要: This invention is a wireless mobile indoor/outdoor tracking system. It is designed to track the absolute position of all nodes in a network indoors and outdoors. The system uses GPS positioning when a signal is available and RF ranging when it is unavailable. When indoors, a minimum of three network nodes must receive a GPS signal to determine absolute position. A mesh network is used to make the system mobile and to create an avenue for data to be transmitted to a remote base station.

摘要: A system for recharging an electric or hybrid electric vehicle includes an interface enabling a user to obtain electrical power for vehicle recharging purposes, authentication apparatus, and a power control unit operative to deliver power from a source of power to the interface but only after the user has been approved by the authentication apparatus. Power consumption circuitry is operative to determine how much electrical power has been provided through the interface, and a data repository is used for storing the amount of power consumed on a per-user basis, and for billing each user for that amount.

摘要: Systems and methods expedite and improve the process of configuring an augmented reality environment. A method of pose determination according to the invention includes the step of placing at least one synthetic fiducial in a real environment to be augmented. A camera, which may include apparatus for obtaining directly measured camera location and orientation (DLMO) information, is used to acquire an image of the environment. The natural and synthetic fiducials are detected, and the pose of the camera is determined using a combination of the natural fiducials, the synthetic fiducial if visible in the image, and the DLMO information if determined to be reliable or necessary. The invention is not limited to architectural environments, and may be used with instrumented persons, animals, vehicles, and any other augmented or mixed reality applications.

摘要: A gesture recognition interface for use in controlling self-service machines and other devices is disclosed. A gesture is defined as motions and kinematic poses generated by humans, animals, or machines. Specific body features are tracked, and static and motion gestures are interpreted. Motion gestures are defined as a family of parametrically delimited oscillatory motions, modeled as a linear-in-parameters dynamic system with added geometric constraints to allow for real-time recognition using a small amount of memory and processing time. A linear least squares method is preferably used to determine the parameters which represent each gesture. Feature position measure is used in conjunction with a bank of predictor bins seeded with the gesture parameters, and the system determines which bin best fits the observed motion. Recognizing static pose gestures is preferably performed by localizing the body/object from the rest of the image, describing that object, and identifying that description. The disclosure details methods for gesture recognition, as well as the overall architecture for using gesture recognition to control of devices, including self-service machines.

摘要: A system and method including software to aid in generation of panels and control instruments rapidly generates a station that can support a variety of control interfaces. Rapid-Prototyped Panels, or RP-Panels, replicate existing systems (for simulation, training, gaming, etc.) or from new designs (for human factors testing, as functional product, etc.). The controls have tactile and visual characteristics similar or identical to their functional component counterparts such as buttons, knobs, switches, pedals, joysticks, steering wheels, and touch panels but are modular and use alternative data transfer modes (potentiometers, fiber optics, RFID, machine vision, etc.) to track and analyze the response of the controls. The response is then transmitted to the host programs. With this method a user can design and fabricate a reconfigurable interface to interact with virtual environments for various applications such as simulation, training, virtual instrumentation, gaming, human factors testing, etc.

摘要: A method for controlling a graphical user interface (GUI) for a touchscreen-enabled computer systems provides a variety of software methods (tools) provide for high-fidelity control of the user interface. The TrackScreen tool provides finger-friendly mouse functions such as scrolling, dragging and clicking. The Magnifier application continuously captures the current screen image, and displays a magnified subset of it. Selecting within this magnified area with a pointing device (mouse, touchscreen, digitizer, etc) causes the application to simulate the action on the portion of the screen corresponding to the point in the magnified image that was selected. A KeyBoard application, a keyboard is rendered on screen, with sufficient size that the individual keys are easily selectable with an unaided finger. The Common Tasks Tool or CTT) allows common keyboard shortcuts, mouse events, and other user interface events to be specified in a configuration file and represented on screen as a large, easy-to-click button. The Touchscreen Task Switcher is invoked using any interface (software or hardware) element, and visually takes up the entire screen. The Touchscreen Snapshot utility ties in with an external camera with a physical button on it. The Window Template Manager (WTM), is used to specify, and then instantiate, the position and sizes of multiple windows for use with a touchscreen display. The Touch Portal is a full-screen application with a set of customizable buttons representing applications and other tools.

摘要: Force feedback in large, immersive environments is provided by device which a gyro- stabilization to generate a fixed point of leverage for the requisite forces and/or torques. In one embodiment, one or more orthogonally oriented rotating gyroscopes are used to provide a stable platform to which a force-reflecting device can be mounted, thereby coupling reaction forces to a user without the need for connection to a fixed frame. In one physical realization, a rigid handle or joystick is directly connected to the three-axis stabilized platform and using an inventive control scheme to modulate motor torques so that only the desired forces are felt. In an alternative embodiment, a reaction sphere is used to produce the requisite inertial stabilization. Since the sphere is capable of providing controlled torques about three arbitrary, linearly independent axes, it can be used in place of three reaction wheels to provide three-axis stabilization for a variety of space-based and terrestrial applications.
