摘要： Various methods and apparatuses are described for a server that includes at least a server starter program, a monitor program, and a service program. The server starter program runs resident on a computer readable storage medium. The server starter program contains code scripted to start and stop server applications. The monitor program also runs resident on the computer readable storage medium. The monitor program contains code scripted to detect a failure associated with a first server application and to communicate to the server starter program to re-start one or more server applications based upon the detected failure associated with the first server application. The service program registers as an operating system service with the operating system. The service program controls requests and communicates to the operating system on behalf of the first server application in the server.

摘要： This invention relates to a method for combined rendering of a first and a second digital media object on a client system as well as to a client system and a computer program product for executing the method, the client system being in communication with a server system over a network, the first media object being held on the server system for download to the client system in a data stream, the second media object being locally stored on the client system, the method comprising the steps of receiving a user input relative to a first media object provided on the server system, establishing a communications channel between the server system and the client system for transmitting the first media object from the server system to the client system, accessing the media object on the server system, transmission of the first media object representing data from the server system to the client system via the communications channel in a data stream, storing the data in a stream buffer on the client system, rendering the first media object on the client system when a predetermined amount of data has been transmitted into the buffer, whereby the second media object is rendered on the client system when the user input is received.

摘要： A person transfer assist device is provided for use to help a person transfer from a sitting position to a standing position and from a standing position to a sitting position which comprises: a) a pad for fitting around the lower back and waist of a person to be assisted; b) a grip bar having a length sufficient to enable an attendant and the person to be assisted to grip the bar during use of the device; and c) a strap secured to the pad and to the grip bar, the strap having a sufficient length so as to enable an attendant to stand before a person to be assisted and to pull such a person from a sitting position to a standing position, or to lower such a person from a standing position to a sitting position, while maintaining an upright posture. A waist strap may be provided to attach the pad around the lower back and waist of the person requiring assistance.
