    摘要: A saw blade includes a main body having a first surface, a second surface on an opposite side of the main body from the first surface, a proximal edge portion, a distal edge portion, and first and second side portions extending between the proximal and distal edge portions. The proximal edge portion is configured to be coupled to a rotatable hub such that the saw blade is held in a curved shape with the first surface defining an outer radius when the saw blade is coupled to the rotatable hub. The distal edge portion includes a plurality of cutting teeth, and the second surface includes a cutting structure configured such that a radius of an arc swept by the cutting structure when the saw blade is rotated is substantially equal to the outer radius of the first surface.

    摘要: A low cost disposable reamer shaft is made from a rod or tube stock of stainless steel, Nitinol or fiber reinforced polymer having a precise outer diameter in the range of 4 to 14 millimeter and is cut to a shaft length of 250 to 400 millimeters. An attachment piece with male or female thread matching a spherical hollow or tapered hollow reamer is machined and glued with epoxy on one end of the rod of tube stock using a precision centerline aligning jig. An attachment piece for connecting to a drive power unit is machined and glued with epoxy to the other end of the rod or tube stock thus forming a low cost disposable reamer shaft that aligns the centerline of the shaft with that of the reamer. The shaft contacts the reamer at two attachment locations that are displaced from each other, providing precise centerline alignment.

    摘要: A femoral hip stem explant system has an alignment body which is attached to two locations of a femoral bone and has several lockable collet type adjustment features to set the shaft of a reamer or end mill exactly in coincidence with the femoral bone cavity axis. The shaft of the end mill or reamer is supported by a sleeve member, which is inserted into a drill guide central aperture. The drill guide aperture is adjusted first and locked to be in line with the femoral bone cavity. Each of the sleeve members has the same mating outer diameter, which fits into the drill guide central aperture. Accordingly, the sleeve members can be interchanged into the drill guide aperture with shafts of differently sized reamers or end mills.

    摘要: A bio-compatible femoral stem is made from a bio-compatible titanium alloy or cobalt-chromium alloy, each of which have an elastic modulus far greater than that of natural bone. When the implant heals within a bone cavity, the implant essentially carries substantially the entire load. Transfer of load to the surrounding bone tissue is lost or resorbed due to lack of use after implant healing. Flexing a stiff implant applies a very large load at the implant distal end. The bone cortex is thereby allowed to thicken due to excessive load, causing thigh pain long after implant healing. The femoral implant has a bone ingrowth coating on the proximal end, allowing firm attachment of the implant in the bone cavity. The distal end has a central aperture and a helical machined groove that permits flexing of the distal portion of the femoral implant stem. This flexing is occurs in a manner similar to surrounding bone tissue, preventing thigh pain.

    摘要: An easy-to-assemble, disposable spherical hollow reamer for medical applications includes a shaft portion, a disposable spherical hollow reamer and a central conical plate. The shaft portion has a proximal end for attachment to a drill, a central conical element and a distal precision threaded screw end. The spherical hollow reamer has plurality of cutters and apertures that extend through its thickness. The spherical hollow reamer has a precision threaded aperture that engages with the threaded end of the reusable shaft precisely aligning the centerline of the shaft with that of the spherical hollow reamer, providing wobble free reaming action. The central conical plate in combination with the interior surface of the spherical hollow reamer forms an enclosed space for capturing bone fragment and bone cement debris.

    摘要: A low cost disposable flexible reamer shaft has a flexible cylindrical braided tube shaft with an outer diameter in the range of 4 to 14 millimeters and 250 to 400 mm length, and a central aperture for insertion of a flexible polymeric tube. The braided tube shaft is permanently attached to a first end element and a second end element. The threaded end of the first end element attaches to female threads of modular tapered, cylindrical or spherical, hollow or solid reamer assembly. The second end element fits into a chuck of a drive motor. The threaded attachment of the first end provides local centerline matching. A guide pin is inserted in the bone cavity, which enters the reamer. The central aperture of the flexible polymeric tube provides centerline matched, wobble-free reaming. The reaming end point is precisely the guide pin inserted location while the reaming direction is controlled by the surgeon by flexing the flexible reamer shaft.

    摘要: A percutaneous implant device is biologically attached to bone and soft tissue of a broken limb or amputated limb without longitudinal or lateral movement. Bone and soft tissue in-growth are promoted. The percutaneous implant device has a bio-compatible metal alloy stem member, having an integral tapered fluted section designed to fit into a taper reamed bone canal. A precisely dimensioned cylindrical central core cooperates with a suture ring and an external extension member, facilitating attachment of the percutaneous implant device to a hand or foot prosthesis. A porous metal outer body having a female taper at one end and the capacity to promote growth of bone and soft tissue, is press fitted on the central core contacting suture ring. The assembled implant is inserted into a taper reamed bone cavity until the male taper-reamed bone free end contacts the female taper. Soft skin is extended over the outer surface of the porous metal outer body and the surrounding suture ring.
