    Abstract: Disclosed is an method for use of an intramedullary nail comprising a shaft having a length, a diameter, an exterior bone contacting surface, a leading (or distal) end and a trailing (or proximal) end, wherein the leading end is progressively tapered and comprises a well or cup, adapted to receive the tip of a standard K-wire, the trailing end comprises a driving fitting adapted for attachment to a driving tool for insertion of the nail into the prepared bone, the trailing end may optionally include an internal thread that can be used to secure the nail to a drill guide which can also function as an insertion handle, and the nail's shaft may also optionally be equipped with threaded and/or unthreaded cross-drilled holes for insertion of unicortical locking screws and bone screws, respectively, once the nail is placed as desired.

    Abstract: An assembling kit for installing intramedullary nail is provided, which is suitable for assisting in fixing a securing member to at least one fixing hole of an intramedullary nail placed in a bone. The assembling kit for installing intramedullary nail includes a drilling member, a guiding member and a hole-reaming member. The drilling member is configured to form an opening on a surface of the bone and has a tapping portion. A diameter of the tapping portion is greater than a diameter of the fixing hole. The guiding member is configured to be put into the fixing hole along a central axis. The hole-reaming member is sleeved on the guiding member and is configured to ream the opening to form a mounting hole. The hole-reaming member has a reaming portion, and a diameter of the reaming portion is greater than the diameter of the tapping portion.

    Abstract: Surgical knives are disclosed, for initiating percutaneous access to a surgical site. The knife has a body with a rear handle and a front cutter portion. It may have a central cannulation to receive a guide wire, along a front-to-rear operating axis. The cutter portion has first and second blades opposed across the axis, each having an outward cutting edge directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and a flat outward face also directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and transversely to the respective outward cutting edge. The first and second outward faces of the two blades converge forwardly to their tip points, which lie close to the axis, and their cutting edges are oppositely directed. Alternatively a single blade may be used, forwardly convergent with the axis.

    Abstract: Described herein are retrograde femoral nails and insertion systems suitable for stabilizing femoral fractures of the shaft and femur. After reaming the femoral canal, the intramedullary nail may be inserted with a retrograde approach through the knee. The nail includes four-start threaded holes in the distal region. The nail also includes oblique distal holes with a trajectory that targets the bone in the posterior condyles. The insertion instrumentation assembly and system includes an insertion handle with a retaining thread that prevents the connection bolt from falling out. An assembly shaft is also included, which assists the user in connecting the nail to the insertion handle. The system further includes an aiming guide with a retention mechanism that holds driver sleeves in place. The aiming guide also contains a hole to position a locking washer holder to interface with the nail.

    Abstract: A femoral intramedullary device is capable of treating a variety of femoral bone fractures. The device includes an intramedullary nail capable of antegrade or retrograde insertion into the femur and having a shank long enough to extend into the shaft of the long bone and reach the corresponding distal area or proximal area and sockets located intermediate the ends of the shank for receiving anchoring pins or screws extended transversely or radially from the shaft of the long bone. The intramedullary nail is placed in the intramedullary canal of a portion of the bone and the screws are fixed in the radial sockets or receivers at the level of the femoral neck to provide mechanical support across the bone. Transverse screws are placed through the transverse sockets to provide additional support and secure the nail within the femur.

    Abstract: A system for preparing a bone for implantation of a component of an orthopedic implant device. The system includes a forming tool having a sleeve member that is selectively received within a handle member. The sleeve member has a guide slot that is sized to receive axial passage of at least a portion of a guide. The guide slot and/or sleeve member may be positioned and/or configured to facilitate at least linear and/or rotational displacement of the forming tool about, or relative to, the guide, and thereby provide a degree of freedom in the location at which the forming tool may form a shape or opening in the bone relative to one or more reference axes. The handle member may include a connection member that is structured to be operably coupled to a bone preparation device that is structured to facilitate the displacement of bone material.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a clamp composed of four distinct components. The ability to deconstruct the provided clamp into four components as compared to a typical two-part clamp may allow for greater ease in cleaning and sterilization.
