    摘要: The invention relates to a color matching method for transforming a color representation of a first set of color primaries with a plurality of first signals to a second set of color primaries with a plurality of second signals in a first domain. The color matching method of the invention is to consider the characteristics of human visual perception. Since human is more sensitive to the luminous intensity than chrominance, the color matching method of the invention is considered to match the luminous intensity. The color matching method of the invention can minimize the intensity difference by utilizing the optimality of resource distribution. An additional step of smoothing the intensity difference among color primaries at the level of color primaries is appended. It enhances the visual quality especially for the images with a gradual change in numerous levels of color. Besides, when the color is outside the gamut, we keep the information of luminance by adding extra white. According to the invention, the color matching method of handling colors outside gamut can provide a higher contrast which is especially good for displaying a color change with numerous levels, such as sunrise or sunset scenes. The color matching method further considers color interactions of each color primary regarding the configuration of surrounding color primaries. With the consideration of exploiting the perceived luminous intensity instead of physical luminous intensity, a superior color matching algorithm can be made.

According to the arrangement of the display, two color dots having lower light intensity than the other two color dots in a white balance status are disposed on diagonal positions of the pixel group. Therefore, the display of the invention can improve the color balance in the pixel group to avoid visible dark vertical line. The image data processing system of the invention utilizes the weighted dot rendering device for pre-compressing data. We can expect that the video compressed data size or the video transmission speed is reduced accordingly to a ratio of ⅓ (¼ in the case of RGBW of 2×2 matrix arrangement because white (W) can be regenerated from the corresponding R, G, B), thus storage memory and transmission bandwidth can be reduced considerably without degrading the visual perception of the video quality on the proprietary VP display.

In contrast with conventional RGB stripe arrangement which has high spatial frequency in X axe but 0 spatial frequency in Y axe, the arrangements of the invention have good spatial frequency in both axes, thus giving a higher visual perception of high resolution after performing weighted dot rendering methods of the invention where each dot in the displays represent the luminance and chrominance of each corresponding RGB pixel by forming with neighboring dots overlapping dynamic pixels.

In order to process subpixel rendered RGB data such as Clear Type™ font data to be processed and put correctly on a non-RGB stripe image device such as a 2×2 matrix RGBW quad pixel image device, a matching 2×2 quad pixel image device is selected to cope with the corresponding input data triplet from the subpixel rendered RGB input data string. Since the blue dot carries the least luminance information in a white balance, Green/Blue/Red (GBR) triplet from the subpixel rendered input RGB data string is selected to match with a 2×2 matrix quadpixel image device where G and R dots of the 2×2 quad pixel have the maximum overlapping area with the corresponding G and R dots from the GBR stripe pixel data.
