摘要: The present application provides novel compositions and methods for treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Compounds of the invention are acid ceramidase inhibitors, reduce AML cell viability, inhibit AML cell proliferation, increase cell death of AML cells, and induce apoptosis in AML cells. A primary compound of the invention is SACLAC: 2-chloro-N-((2S,3R)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadecan-2-yl)acetamide. The bromine analog of SACLAC (SABRAC: 2-bromo-N-((2S,3R)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadecan-2-yl)acetamide) is also useful for treating AML. SACLAC has much better activity than other know drugs used to treat AML.

摘要: The blood half-life of endogenous peptides such as somatostatin and cortistatin is extremely short, barely reaching a few In minutes [Skamene et al., Clin. Endocrinol. 1984, 20, 555-564]. Thus, there is a need to find new systems or compositions that comprise cortistatinor an analogue thereof for the treatment of those pathologies in which specific cortistatin receptors and those receptors shared with other molecules like somatostatin (sstr1, sstr2, sstr3, sstr4 and/or sstr5) and/or ghrelin (GHSR) are expressed, being, furthermore, more stable in blood than cortistatin. The present invention providesan improved means for providing cortistatinor an analogue thereof as a pharmaceutically active agent in latent form, more stable in blood than cortistatin that liberates cortistatin in a controlled-release manner.

摘要: The present invention provides an optogenetic chimeric fusion polypeptide comprising an optimized amino acid sequence of the plant phototropin domain LOV2 fused to an amino acid sequence of the bacterial amyloidogenic effector RepA-WH1. Optimized LOV2 enables navigation through the folding landscape of RepA-WH1 from solubility to its aggregation as oligomers or amyloid fibres. Thus, this polypeptide assembles as hydrogels and amyloid fibres in the darkness, while under blue light illumination forms oligomeric particles that are proteotoxic for cells, preferably bacteria. This polypeptide is therefore proposed for inducing the formation of cytotoxic amyloid oligomers in cells that are targeted for killing.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for producing mixtures of hydrocarbons and aromatic compounds, for use as fuel components (preferably in the range C5-C16), by means of catalytic conversion of the oxygenated organic compounds contained in aqueous fractions derived from biomass treatments, wherein said method can comprise at least the following steps: (i) bringing the aqueous mixture containing the oxygenated organic compounds derived from biomass in contact with a catalyst comprising at least Sn and Nb, Sn and Ti, and combinations of Sn, Ti and Nb; (ii) reacting the mixture with the catalyst in a catalytic reactor at temperatures between 100 and 350° C. and under pressures from 1 to 80 bar in the absence of hydrogen; and (iii) recovering the products obtained by means of the liquid/liquid separation of the aqueous and organic phases.

摘要: This invention discloses a reactor and methods for heating of a gas as it reacts with a solid. The reactor contains gas conducts that are empty of solids and that cross through a region packed with solids. The wall of the gas conducts has orifices to make it permeable but not selective to gases, while effectively separating the solids from the gas. In the reactor, the heat source to heat up the gas is generated by the exothermic reaction of the solids with one active component of the gas. The region packed with the reacting solids is at temperatures ranging from 500° C. to 1500° C., to promote the heat transfer towards the gas and the high reactivity of the solids with the active components of the gas, that is forced to diffuse from the conduct through the orifices of the conduct wall.
