摘要: A method and system for flue gas recirculation is disclosed which will minimize NOx production from hydrocarbon combustion. In the present invention a furnace having an oxygen-bearing primary source of combustion air, a mixing chamber, a combustion chamber in downstream communication with the mixing chamber and an exhaust section downstream of the combustion chamber is provided with a flue gas recirculation line. The recirculation line establishes communication between the exhaust section and the mixing chamber for the return of combustion products as a secondary source of combustion air which is relatively lean in oxygen and is combined with the primary source of combustion air in the mixing chamber. The ratio of flow rates for the primary and secondary sources of combustion air is controlled by a signal generated by a sensor which senses the oxygen concentration in the mixing chamber.

摘要: Prenylating enzymes are involved in modifying oncoproteins, such as RAS, so that growth of neoplastic cells becomes uncontrolled. Inactivation of such enzymes can prevent uncontrolled growth. α-Dicarbonyl compounds can be used to covalently modify and thereby inactivate prenylating enzymes such as protein farnesyltransferase and protein geranylgeranyltransferase. The compounds can be designed to enhance affinity and/or specificity for a particular protein substrate.

摘要: The present invention provides pyrrolidinyl compounds that are useful for preparing conjugated oligomeric compounds. The conjugated pyrrolidinyl compounds can be attached to support medium and provide a free hydroxyl for oligomer synthesis to prepare an oligmeric compound having a 3′-conjugate. Alternatively, the pyrrolidinyl compound can be prepared as a phosphoramidite which can be placed internally or at the 5′-position of an oligomeric compound. These two strategies can be used together to prepare oligomeric compounds having 2 or more conjugates at any selected positions. The present invention also provides methods for modulating gene expression using the conjugated oligomeric compounds.
