    摘要: An orthopedic fastener (10) has a head (50) and a shank (20). The shank (20) extends from the head (50) to a distal tip (11). The shank (20) has a leading end (1) adjacent the distal tip (11) and a trailing end (3) adjacent the head (50). An intermediate transition (2) is positioned between the leading (1) and trailing ends (3). The leading end (1) has first threads (40) with one or more self-tapping cutting grooves (41) extending adjacent the distal tip (11) and through a plurality of the first threads (40). The trailing end (3) has a second thread (60) extending toward the head (50) from the intermediate transition (2). The intermediate transition (2) has one or more second cutting grooves (61) extending from at least a first thread (40) in the intermediate transition (2) through at least one of said second threads (60) to initiate tapping of the second threads (60) into cortical bone. The first and second cutting grooves (41, 61) in combination with the threads (40, 60) form threads in the bone to hold the fastener (10).

    摘要: An expandable implant device (100) for insertion between two vertebrae (400) is disclosed. The device (100) has an upper body (20), a lower body (40) and an external retainer band (60). The external retainer band (60) holds the upper body (20) and lower body (40) and has an inner surface having a plurality or set of upper ratchet teeth (80U) sloped for allowing upward movement and a plurality or set of lower ratchet teeth (80L) for allowing downward movement. The ratchet teeth (80) of the upper body (20) are mated or fitted to the upper teeth (80) of the retainer band (60) and the ratchet teeth (82) of the lower body (40) are mated or fitted to the lower ratchet teeth (82) of the retainer band (60). The height of the device (100) is increased by upward movement of the upper body (20) and downward movement of the lower body (40).

    摘要: An instrument for manipulating a spinal rod relative to a bone anchor may include a first shaft and a first finger and a second finger provided at a distal end of the first shaft. The first finger may be spaced apart a distance from the second finger approximate to the outer diameter of the receiver member of the bone anchor. Each of the first finger and the second finger may include a projection extending along the length of the finger for engaging a groove provided on the receiver member of the bone anchor. The instrument may also include a second shaft that is movable relative to the first shaft in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the first shaft to manipulate the spinal rod relative to the receiver member of the bone anchor.

    摘要: Disclosed is a kit useful in connection with the preparation of dental prostheses and including an implant-abutment analogue and a burnout coping. The analogue generally corresponds to an implant and abutment in the jaw of a patient. A burnout coping is secured to the analogue for the preparation of the dental prosthetic. In one embodiment, the analogue includes a connection feature and the coping includes a mating connection feature, the connection feature on the coping positioned to provide a remnant on the dental prosthetic prepared thereform that does not interfere with the placement of the prosthetic onto an implant and abutment in the jaw of a patient. In another embodiment, not mutually exclusive with respect to the first embodiment, the coping comprises first and second portions that are movable with respect to one another and sized respectively to engage first and second portions of an analogue.
