Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a multilayered duplex material article. The method comprises providing a first layer from a non-cast material and a second layer from a cast material wherein the second layer is made from a material with a lower melting point than the first layer. In one embodiment the first layer is a wrought alloy and the second layer is cast onto the first layer.

A stabilizer link or tie rod is provided with a ball and stud and with a housing with an outer surface and with an interior surface defining a ball cavity. The housing is connected with a link rod. A race insert is provided having a housing liner surface engaging the housing interior surface and an interior ball race surface in contact with the ball and a housing end portion defining a closure interface with the housing. A protective cap is provided with a barrier surface extending over the closure interface and over the housing outer surface. The cap has a retaining surface engaging each of the housing and the rod.
Abstract:
A tailgate damper for damping the lowering of a tailgate that is rotatably coupled along a tailgate shaft to a truck is provided. The tailgate damper can include a housing that has an inner cavity with a viscous fluid within the inner cavity. In addition, a seal can be located at a base of the inner cavity and be operable to keep the viscous fluid therewithin. A damping insert having a damping portion and a tailgate portion extending from the tailgate portion is provided, with the tailgate portion being able to attach coaxially to the tailgate shaft. The damping portion is located at least partially within the inner cavity of the housing and is in contact with the viscous fluid such that rotation of the damping portion is resisted.

A process for forming the ball and socket joint with bellows seal (10), a bellows seal (10) and a ball and socket joint with bellows seal (10) is provided including a ball pivot pin (36, 38) with a connection piece (40). The sealing bellows is provided with an annular engagement surface (16) with a cavity (20). The connection piece with a sealing face is connected to the ball pivot pin. Lubricant (22) is disposed in the cavity prior to assembly of the ball and socket joint. The annular engagement surface (16) is provided in contact with the sealing face upon assembly to cause an amount of lubricant (22) to be squeezed out of the cavity (20).
