    摘要: The present invention is an enhancement of the prior art use of partial effects and component distribution regarding NGL fractionation, especially relating to the separation of propane, isobutane, normal butane and gasoline components. The present invention distributes butanes in two separate columns and integrates the thermodynamic efficiency obtained with partial effects to cascade reboiling duty through as many as four separate columns. The resulting savings in energy are compared with the prior art process of sequential fractionation of NGL.

    摘要: A process for recovering CO.sub.2 from a mixture of light hydrocarbons, e.g. light hydrocarbons produced from a CO.sub.2 injection enhanced oil recovery. The mixture is distilled in a distributive zone with CO.sub.2 produced overhead and in the bottoms. The overhead and bottoms produced from the distributive zone are then fed to first and second concentrating distillation zones, respectively. The first concentrating zone produces a bottoms product rich in CO.sub.2 and an overhead product rich in methane and lean in CO.sub.2. The second concentrating zone is refluxed with lean oil and produces a CO.sub.2 distillate and a CO.sub.2 -lean bottoms product. In various embodiments, at least a section of each of the concentrating zones are placed in a single column, the CO.sub.2 product streams are taken as a side draw, vapor from the first concentrating zone is used in an open cycle heat pump to heat the second concentrating zone, the distributive zone is thermally coupled with one or both of the concentrating zones, and the distributive zone and certain sections of the concentrating zones are physically integrated into a single column.

Previously, hot bottoms streams could be used to heat interreboilers, although heat recovery was limited by approach temperatures of a stream losing sensible heat to a stream gaining sensible heat and heat of vaporization. The present invention expands the number of stages between the draw and return stages for an interreboiler, thus increasing the heat recovery from the bottom stream and reducing hot utilities to the reboiler, among other important advantages. The present invention is shown for NGL deethanization.

    摘要: A thermomechanically integrated distillation column and method for the separation of ethylene from ethane and other close-boiling light hydrocarbons. The column has a plurality of sections operated at successively lower pressures from a high pressure subcritical section to a superatmosphere bottoms product zone. Bottoms liquid from the high pressure and intermediate sections are flashed in respective cooling loops to about the pressure of the section of next lower pressure, vaporized in heat exchange with an overhead condensing zone and introduced to the top stage of next lower pressure section. Vapor from the intermediate sections and the bottoms product zone are compressed in respective compression loops and fed to the bottom stage of the section of the next higher pressure. External refrigerant can be supplied to the overhead condensing zone for trim as needed for control purposes.

    摘要: An integrated distillation column having a partitioned stripping or absorption section is presented. The integrated stripping/distillation column comprises a single shell housing a refluxed absorption section and a reboiled stripping section. The stripping section is partitioned by a vertical wall into first and second separate portions having upper end in fluid communication the absorption section. The stripping portions include fluid isolated lower ends having separate reboilers. In the integrated absorption/distillation column, the absorption section is partitioned and separate reflux loops are provided for each portion of the absorption section. In such a manner, a two column distillation process can be combined into one for achieving space and equipment savings.

    摘要: The present invention provides one or more sidedraws, from the stripping section of a column, of a heavy key component in the presence of a desirable heavier than heavy key component. In addition, the present invention provides one or more sidedraws, from the rectification section of a column, of a light key component in the presence of a desirable lighter than light key component. In prior art columns, an inherent remixing of the components to be separated in downstream columns occurs near the top or bottom of refluxed or reboiled columns respectively. In the prior art, a re-separation of the remixed components from an upstream column must be done in downstream columns. The present invention eliminates or reduces, according to desired optimization, the remixing by removal of the heavy or light key components in the sidedraw stream.

The process of the present invention is a fundamental departure from all previous processes of the prior art.An object of the present invention is to accomplish reverse or "inverse" distillation. While traditional distillation or staged absorption performs simultaneous heat and mass transfer to achieve a separation, the present invention uses that process to mix two feed streams to form a single mixed product stream.
