Abstract:
The present invention provides, among other things, membrane cassettes and stacks thereof which are suitable for a use in a variety of electrochemical applications. The invention further provides membrane cassettes which comprise one or more external manifolds which deliver reagents and/or coolant to one or more reactant or coolant flow fields of the membrane cassettes. In particular, the present invention describes the insert molding method, whereby the plenums of the external manifolds are created during the stack encapsulation step. The invention describes several methods for creating the manifold runner geometry via insert-molding, machining, or with separate components.

Abstract:
A filter change indicator includes two indicators visible through a window. The first indicator is disposed in the viewing window in a fixed position. The second indicator covers the first indicator in a first position and is moveable relative to the first indicator to a second position revealing the first indicator. The filter change indicator also includes a spring and flexible diaphragm arranged such that changes in the pressure of a fluid system moves the second indicator to expose the first indicator to provide a visual indication of filter occlusion.
Abstract:
A valve assembly includes a housing having a valve seat defining at least part of a vent passage, a pressure responsive member carried by the housing and defining at least part of a pressure chamber, and a valve carried by the housing and having a closure moveable relative to the valve seat between an open position permitting fluid flow through the vent passage and a closed position at least substantially restricting fluid flow through the vent passage. The closure is moved by the pressure responsive member in response to changes in pressure in the pressure chamber. A control passage communicates at one end with a pressure source and at its other end with the pressure chamber and an electrically operated valve is moveable from a first position permitting a pressure signal to develop within the pressure chamber and a second position permitting pressure within the pressure chamber to vent.
Abstract:
A system and method for implementing a Proportional/Integral/Derivative (PID) tuning cycle in a distributed control system comprising a PID block on a field device collecting loop characteristics of a control loop. The PID block may communicate the collected loop characteristics from the field device to a host computer in the distributed control system. The host computer may calculate a new tuning constant based on the received loop characteristics and communicate the new tuning constant to the PID block on the field device. The PID block on the field device may receive the new tuning constant for the PID block from the host computer. The PID block on the field device may be tuned with the new tuning constant.
Abstract:
A diverter module is incorporated into a filter cartridge. The module employs a radial passage which diverts fluid to be filtered to the radial periphery of a filter element. The filtered fluid flows inwardly and axially through a transfer passage for discharge from the filter cartridge.
Abstract:
A modular system and method is provided for enabling remote configuring and ordering of flowmeters in a client-server environment. The system includes a meter selection module configured to enable a user to select from a plurality of flowmeter types. A process data module receives process data from a client and a fluid selection module coupled to the process module is configured to receive a process fluid selection and to calculate properties thereof. A sizing module generates parameters of at least one sized flowmeter, sized in accordance with the received process data. A material selection module provides a list of materials from which the sized flowmeter may be fabricated, and a fluid rating module rates compatibility of the various materials with the process fluid selection. A results module is configured to generate data corresponding to expected performance of the sized flowmeter.

Abstract:
A fuel level measurement device has a fuel level sensor carried by a fuel level float at the distal end of a pivoting float arm of the device which is preferably part of a fuel pump module located inside of a fuel tank preferably for automotive applications. Preferably a sealed arcuate chamber of the float is defined between an electrically conductive cover and a variable electric resistor which preferably is a generally non-conductive ceramic substrate that carries an electrically resistive ink strip. A track exposed in the arcuate chamber has a concave shape that generally faces upward so that a rolling member changes position due to the forces of gravity within the chamber as the float arm pivots generally up and down with changing fuel levels in the tank. The rolling member is electrically conductive and completes the circuit between the electrically conductive cover and the variable resistive ink strip. The sealed chamber provides the pathway for the rolling member and preferably at least in part the buoyancy for the float.
