    摘要: A radial shaft seal configured for receipt in a housing and about a shaft to sealingly isolate an air side of the seal from an oil side of the shaft seal is provided. The seal includes a mounting portion and a seal lip having an annular sealing surface extending between an oil side end and a free air side end. An annular bridge is connected to the oil side end of the seal lip by a first hinge and to the mounting portion by a second hinge. The bridge extends from the first hinge to the second hinge in radially overlying relation to the seal lip. A projection extends from the first hinge away from the bridge toward the oil side of the seal to prevent the seal lip from inverting during the oil-side installation assembly.

    摘要: A dynamic radial shaft seal assembly includes an inner wear sleeve having a cylindrical inner wall with a bore sized for receipt about a shaft and an outer running surface. The inner wear sleeve has a flange extending radially outwardly from the running surface. The assembly further includes an outer case having cylindrical outer wall configured for receipt in a housing and a rim extending radially inwardly from the outer wall. An elastomeric body is attached to the rim. The elastomeric body includes a main seal lip configured to engage the outer running surface of the inner wear sleeve and a plurality of thrust pads extending axially from the rim for engagement with the flange. The thrust pads are spaced circumferentially from one another by gaps. The elastomeric body further includes a first dust exclusion lip extending axially from the leg and bridging the gaps.

The seal includes an annular mounting portion and a seal lip operably attached to the mounting portion. The seal lip has an annular inner sealing surface extending axially between an oil-side end and a free air-side end. The inner sealing surface has a first groove region extending along the shaft in sealed engagement therewith and a second groove region extending along the shaft in sealed engagement therewith. The first groove region and the second groove region are spaced axially from one another by an intermediate non-grooved region. The first groove region is configured to direct contamination toward the air-side of the seal and the second groove region is configured to direct lubrication toward the oil-side of the seal.

A seal lip extends inwardly from the free end of the second leg into sealing abutment with the running surface. A first porous filter is received in the pocket, and a second porous filter extends in substantial abutment with the outer rim and the second leg of the outer case.

    摘要: A compression sensor gasket assembly includes a gasket body having opposite substantially planar sealing surfaces configured for sealing abutment with an engine block and a cylinder head. The gasket body has at least one through opening configured to register with a cylinder bore and a passage extends from an outer periphery of the gasket body between the opposite sealing surfaces. The gasket assembly includes a mounting flange fixed to the gasket body. The mounting flange extends outwardly from one of the substantially planar sealing surfaces. A pressure sensor assembly extends through the passage, and a mounting member is releasably fixed to the mounting flange to operably fix the pressure sensor assembly to the gasket body. The pressure sensor assembly is readily accessible, such that during service the pressure sensor assembly can be removed and serviced without having to remove the cylinder head from the engine block.

    摘要: A lubricant seal assembly has an outer seal component and a separate inner wear sleeve. The outer seal component has a carrier and a PTFE seal element which lays down against the wear sleeve to provide a seal collar extending to an oil side of the seal assembly. The wear sleeve is formed on an air side of the assembly with an end flange, but is free of any such flanges on the oil side. The end flange has an axial portion extending into the seal component to define a labyrinth debris exclusion path. One or more elastomeric debris exclusion lips are formed on the carrier and are precisely positioned relative to the wear sleeve with the aid of an installation tool that engages end faces of the seal component and wear sleeve to press them into precise axial alignment relative to one another in repeatable fashion.

The wear sleeve includes a radially deformable liner that maintains biased contact with the shaft or housing surface regardless of tolerance variations in the housing or shaft diameter. The liner is constructed to provide a low force installation and to act as a thermal conduction device between the inner surface of the sleeve and the shaft or housing.

The first groove region is spaced axially from the static band and extends between the static band and the oil-side end to pump lubrication toward the oil-side of the seal. The static band prevents the lubrication from leaking from the oil-side to the air-side of the seal.

    摘要: A hydrodynamic shaft seal assembly includes a PTFE seal member having outer and inner sections. The outer section is affixed to an annular carrier. The inner section is free and includes at least one hydrodynamic groove in direct running contact with a rotating shaft or wear sleeve. A mid-portion of the seal member is formed between the inner and outer sections. The mid-portion is thinned and includes one or more annular undulations formed therein to improve flexibility of the inner section relative to the outer section. The seal assembly may include one or more excluder features. A rubber casing is molded about portions of the carrier. Preferably, one or more annular undulations are formed in a coining operation during the rubber molding process.
