The modules include an at least partially expendable, unmanned first stage unit which is capable of single-stage-to-orbit operations on its own carrying internal or external payloads, or as part of a multi-stage-to-orbit system for higher payload capacity launches. The first stage unit is demountably securable to other first stage units, unpowered cargo-carrying units, and/or manned space vehicles. The first stage unit may be completely expendable after launch.

    摘要: A system for transmitting microwaves to one or more receiver assemblies comprises an array of separate microwave transmitting assemblies for emitting a plurality of microwave beams, the array being arranged to apparently fill a radiating aperture of predetermined shape and size when viewed from the direction of a receiver assembly, and a phase controlling assembly associated with the microwave transmitting assemblies for controlling the relative phase of the emitted beams to form at least one composite shaped microwave beam directed to at least one receiver assembly. The receiver assembly is located in the near field of the microwave beam. The transmitting assemblies are each associated with separate power sources comprising solar power collecting assemblies. In one arrangement the transmitting system is on the moon and the or each receiver assembly is on Earth.

    摘要: A two position float arm for regulating two water levels in water level control systems that are controlled by a float connected to a inlet water valve by a rod. The rod is replaced by a first member (22) hinged to a second member (28). The first member (22) is screwed into the inlet water valve boss while the second member (28) is screwed into the float boss. A sleeve (34) slides over the hinge, locking the first member (22) and second member (28) in line and establishing a first water level. The sleeve (34) may be slid away from the hinge allowing the second member (28) and the attached float to rise to a higher position relative to the first member (22) and thus establish a second water level. The sleeve (34) is maintained in the locked position by a spring. The sleeve is pulled away from the hinge by a cable attached to a knob or a lever.

    摘要: An aerospace vehicle having multiple propulsion systems on a relatively rotatable flying wing capable of takeoff and subsequent landing with intermediate space flight in the manner of a conventional aircraft and rocket, respectively, comprising an elongated wing member having internal passenger and crew, cargo and fuel storage compartments. A plurality of propulsion systems are distributed about the wing member for providing thrust and aerodynamic control. The vehicle also includes rotating means for controlling the direction of the thrust of the propulsion systems relative to the longitudinal axis of the wing whereby to rotate the wing member relative to the direction of flight. The vehicle takes off and lands with the longitudinal wing axis being transverse to the direction of thrust and therefore to the flight direction in a manner similar to that of conventional aircraft. In flight as the vehicle approaches space, the rotating means rotates the longitudinal wing axis into alignment with the direction of thrust of the plurality of propulsion systems and therefore to the direction of flight for suborbital, orbital and space flight in the manner similar to that of conventional rockets.
