摘要: An apparatus for shared spectrum access (referred to at times hereinafter by the acronym “ASSA”, or more generally, as a “gateway device”) is configured to work with one or more private networks, providing control of operating parameters such as the assignment of a specific frequency band (channel), maximum level of transmission power at an assigned channel, and/or even the ability to use a shared spectrum assignments, updating as need be. By virtue of provisioning end-user devices (EUDs) with software-defined transceivers, the ASSA may function to broadcast “operation parameters” (i.e., assigned frequency band and maximum transmission power) to all EUDs within its range. The EUDs may be fixed or mobile devices.

摘要: A radio module is configured to operate within a specialized frequency band, for example a band that has recently become available for use in the public domain. Superheterodyne techniques are used by a transmitter component of the radio module to frequency shift a conventional wireless data signal (e.g., used for WiFi, LTE telecommunications, etc.) into a designated band; a receiver component of the radio module is similarly configured to receive signals transmitted on the designated band and shift back into the conventional RF band (where standard components are able to further process the received signal).

摘要: An application-specific wireless communication network for use in an industrial environment based on parameters defined by the IEEE 802.11 standard, modified by providing software-defined control of an assigned operating frequency band and software-defined control of the channel size, allowing the channel size to be relatively small as appropriate for the particular industrial application. The application-specific wireless communication network further controls other parameters defined by the standard to configure at least optimum transmitter power, receiver sensitivity, transmission latency, and ACK-retransmit to values appropriate for the specific industrial application.
