    摘要: A cylindrical viscous damper drive assembly for driving the matrix of a rotary regenerator heat exchange apparatus, the drive assembly including an annular ring-like driven sprocket loosely encircling the annular hub at one end of a drive shaft coupled to the matrix, the sprocket being drivingly coupled to the hub by a pair of axially spaced apart split ring torsion springs, each torsion spring being pinned at one end to an end of the hub and having a radially outward extending lip at its other end that projects into a socket in the sprocket to effect the driving connection between the sprocket and hub, a pair of O-rings being positioned in axially spaced apart relation to each other to effect a sealing engagement between the outer periphery of the hub and the inner periphery of the socket whereby to define therewith a sealed annular chamber which is filled with a viscous fluid that will provide, when relative rotational movement occurs between the sprocket and hub, a dampening force to reduce torque oscillations between the hub and the sprocket and, axially spaced apart shoulder means on the sprocket extending radially inward to be in interference relation with respect to the hub and the split ring torsion springs attached thereto to limit axial movement of the sprocket relative to the hub.

    摘要: A load sharing right angle bevel gear drive comprises a housing having a power bevel gear that meshes with two bevel gears that are mounted in the housing for rotation about a second axis that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the power bevel gear.The power bever gear is mounted in a sleeve that automatically translates to equalize the power transmitted from the power bevel gear to the two bevel gears. The power bevel gear is axially retained in the sleeve by spaced rolling bearings and the sleeve translates on slides that retain the sleeve axially to counteract the axial components of the forces that automatically translate the sleeve.In one embodiment, One bevel gear is a power output gear and the other bevel gear is an idler gear that also drives the power output gear through a fourth bevel gear. In another embodiment both bevel gears are power output gears. The sleeves of both embodiments preferably translate on slide pins via recirculating bearing balls to reduce friction. Both embodiments may employ hydraulic damping for the slide pins.

    摘要: A drive system for a multiple gas turbine engine system includes power output shafts from first and second gas turbine engines, each power shaft connected to drive a load and each engine including a load sharing cross-over shaft for power transfer from one of the engines to the other engine;a right angle gear box assembly connects each of the power output shafts to the cross-over shaft and each of the right angle gear box assemblies includes first and second load sharing gear paths including tooth geometry in an input bevel gear configured to produce a thrust reversal so that for normal direction torque transfer the input bevel gear thrust is in a direction to load mesh points in both gear paths and for a reversal of torque direction from input to output gears the input gear thrust is reversed so that the input gear will be directed into a tighter mesh to take out normal backlash in the system so that reverse meshed torque paths will be maintained in each of the first and second gear paths to maintain a sharing of torque in both forward and reverse directions of drive within the gear box assembly thereby to reduce weight and size of gear components of aircraft or other lightweight drive systems with reverse driving modes.
