    摘要: A condenser for an air conditioning system has a tube and fin design. The tubular flow path divides into two parallel paths at the condenser inlet. The two paths combine at a junction at a point about two thirds of the distance to the outlet. A single path connects the junction to the outlet. In general condensation of the refrigerant occurs in the dual path and liquid flows at high velocity in the single path to the outlet for better heat transfer and reduced liquid volume in the tubular path.

    摘要: Louvered fins in fin and tube type heat exchangers extend across the spaces between adjacent tubes. Adjacent tubes are separated by a distance s and louvers in the fins extend between the tubes but stop short of the tubes to leave some plain fin area which defines a bypass channel of width b between each tube and adjacent louvers. The curve of heat transfer versus air side pressure drop increases as the ratio b/s decreases. An optimum value of b/s occurs at the knee of the curve and lower values of the ratio effect insignificant improvements in heat transfer.

    摘要: A heat exchanger having a plurality of flat and elongated tube passes operatively interconnected therein with inlet and outlet openings adjacent to one another so that refrigerant flowing therethrough can transfer the heat energy from a cross flow of air streaming between the tube passes. The tube passes have a divider rib offset so that the volume on the outlet or increased quantity side of each pass is greater than the volume on the inlet or low quantity vapor side. With a large volume available for vapor expansion, pressure drop is minimized and heat transfer performance is maximized in the heat exchanger.

    摘要: A scroll housing includes a spiral portion and an outlet portion. A blower fan is mounted on the spiral portion and rotated to draw an axial air current into the scroll housing. The airflow is channeled away from the scroll housing by the outlet portion which is tangentially aligned with the blower fan. A baffle is mounted on an interior surface of the spiral portion upstream from a cutoff provided adjacent the intersection of the spiral portion and the outlet portion. The baffle projects into the exiting airflow from the blower fan and reduces airflow noise.

    摘要: A refrigeration condenser has at least two serpentine paths of unequal lengths (effected by unequal numbers of loops in the paths) extending between common inlet and outlet ports. By adding this design capability to the conventional equal path length condensers greater design flexibility is provided to permit smaller incremental size changes from conventional equal path length condensers, and allows inlet and outlet ports to be on the same side or on opposite sides without any change in condenser size or performance.
