摘要: An improved solar energy conversion apparatus for effectively converting solar radiation thermal energy, on a high-efficiency basis, into captive stored thermal energy in a captive working medium in a closed-cycle power conversion system (usually consisting of flow-path-defining apparatus such as piping, tubing or the like) and adapted at an output end to be connected to any of various different types of thermal energy utilization apparatus which will effectively reduce the temperature and/or pressure of the working medium as a consequence of the effective extraction of substantial quantities of energy from the working medium by such utilization apparatus, and normally provided with a return-flow line (usually ducting or the like) adapted to be connected from an output side of such utilization apparatus back to a low-thermal-energy input end of the flow-path-defining apparatus of the power conversion system. An important feature is the provision of, and the effective coupling with the solar energy conversion apparatus of, an automatic cut-in, auxiliary, heat-supplying standby apparatus coupled thereto in a manner such as to provide either a substantially constant desired level of thermal energy input into the working medium of the closed-cycle power conversion system despite input solar radiation thermal energy variations, or to provide for the maintainence of the total transferred thermal energy input within certain predetermined upper and lower limits.

摘要: A water-saving float-to-inlet valve adapter device or modifier which may comprise original equipment or a replacement for a conventional substantially transversely directed attachment arm conventionally provided and connecting a buoyant float and an inlet valve into a toilet flush tank, with the modifier or adapter functioning to effectively modify the normal position of such a buoyant float, and correspondingly the normal maximum height of the water level in the flush tank at the end of each refilling operation, when the adapter effectively causes the inlet refilling valve to be turned off, whereby to in effect greatly reduce the amount of water contained in the toilet flush tank at the end of a refilling operation following each flushing operation and consequently reducing the amount of water utilized in each flushing operation, which in one preferred form, is selectively adjustable.

摘要: An improved solar energy conversion apparatus, including duration-of-operation extension apparatus for effectively converting solar radiation thermal energy, on a high-efficiency basis, into captive or stored thermal energy in a captive working medium in a closed-cycle power conversion system (usually consisting of flow-path defining apparatus, such as piping, tubing or the like) and adapted at an output end to be connected to any of various different types of thermal energy utilization apparatus which will effectively reduce the temperature and/or pressure of the working medium as a consequence of the effective extraction of substantial quantities of energy from the working medium by such utilization apparatus, and normally provided with a return-flow line (usually ducting or the like) adapted to be connected from an output side of such utilization apparatus back to a low-thermal-energy input end of the flow-path-defining apparatus of the power conversion system. An important feature is the provision of optical, infrared-radiation-concentrating apparatus focused on a much smaller area, and usually line-shaped, radiation reception surface and a thermally related radiation-to-heat conversion layer in heat transfer relationship with respect to the flow-path-defining apparatus for heating the contained working medium, in one form in a plurality of series-connected sequential thermal-energy-step-up sections of the flow-path-defining apparatus so as to successively increase the amount of thermal energy transferred therein to a high level before reaching the thermal energy utilization apparatus.

摘要: The invention relates to panelling material which may be of a decorative or structural type, or both, and which has a very large magnitude strength-to-weight ratio and which is ideally suited for and in certain forms is embodied in, pattern-pre-cut multiple panels adapted to be quickly and easily assembled and edge-fastened together to form a desired building structure and which, because of its inherent flexibility, will provide an extremely earthquake-resistant structure, whether in a low-rise, moderately reinforced structure or in a high-rise, extensively reinforced structure in a manner which will allow the entire structure to flex and move as a unit, thereby virtually eliminating all tendency to separation of different structural materials during even extreme earthquake-caused flexing movements of the structure. The panelling material includes combustion-inhibiting or fire-extinguishing material carried adjacent to or in a disseminated relationship therethrough and taking the form of particles which in one form are preferably of a heat-responsive nature adapted to decompose when subjected to the heat of combustion and to produce, as a result of such decomposition, an effectively built-in fire-extinguishing gas, usually a halogen and, in a preferred form, a halogen containing a substantial quantity of bromine and adapted to prevent the maintainance of combustion originating from other adjacent structures or materials or sources or to substantially inhibit same and to virtually completely prevent the self-supporting maintainance of combustion of the panelling material.

摘要: The invention relates to protective packaging of objects of a fragile nature, such as electronic components, optical components, and other delicate or fragile food objects, and comprises hollow protective container portions arranged to be positioned in a manner defining a hollow interior chamber for protectively packaging such fragile or perishable objects, with said container portions being provided with shaped inner liner parts having shaped recess portions formed in place therein in the presence of such packageable objects and at least partially engaging corresponding parts of such packageable objects, with the shaped inner liner parts comprising a multi- phase material of foamed-in-place compressible, plastic material interspersed with bubble-pack means having closely adjacent gas cells which are isolated cells. In one preferred form, each container portion is formed of laminated material of a novel high-strength-to-weight ratio type including high-strength stiffening portions and lower strength, extremely low-density, high-specific-volume filler material which, in one preferred form, includes either, associated with said panelling material and/or associated with said shaped liner parts a combustion-inhibiting material comprising particles which are preferably of a heat-responsive nature adapted to decompose when subjected to the heat of a combustion and to produce an effectively built-in fire extinguishing gas (which will also mean a fire-preventing gas), usually a halogen containing a substantial quantity of bromine and adapted to prevent combustion originating from other adjacent structures or to substantially inhibit same and to prevent combustion of the foam plastic material either in the panelling material or the multi-phase shaped inner liner parts.
