Abstract:
An active suspension system suitable for use with a vehicle, includes a passive suspension element with a first end adapted for rigid engagement to a sprung mass of the vehicle and a second end adapted for rigid engagement to an unsprung mass of the vehicle. Also included is an active suspension element with a linear switched reluctance actuator which has a first end adapted for rigid engagement to the sprung mass of the vehicle and a second end adapted for rigid engagement to the unsprung mass of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A medical retrieval device of an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a proximal handle, a sheath, and a retrieval assembly. The sheath extends from the handle and includes a lumen and a distal end opposite the handle. The retrieval assembly is moveable relative to the sheath to achieve a collapsed position of the retrieval assembly within the lumen and an expanded position of the retrieval assembly when extended outside the lumen. The retrieval assembly includes a plurality of legs. At least one of the legs includes a wire having an inner core at least partially surrounded by an outer layer.

Abstract:
A magnetic composition for power conversion includes a thermoplastic polymer and magnetic powders. The composition has a tensile strength of greater than 20 N/mm2.
Abstract:
A medical device includes an elongate member defining a lumen and a tipless basket having a proximal end and a distal end. The basket is retractable within and extendable from the lumen. The basket includes a plurality of proximal legs extending from the proximal end of the basket and a plurality of distal legs extending to the distal end of the basket. Each of the plurality of proximal legs is connected to an end of at least two of the plurality of distal legs between the proximal and distal ends of the basket.
Abstract:
An LED display with a reduced thickness is described. In one embodiment, the LED display includes a second support plate between a front support plate and a back support plate. The second support plate enables the front support plate to be thinner than if the second support plate was not included. The second support plate increases the distance between an LED chip and a light exit surface thereby allowing the front support plate thickness to be reduced by about the thickness of the second support plate. In one embodiment, the second support plate allows the thickness of an LED display to be thinner. The second support plate adds structural integrity to a back support plate. Therefore, the back support plate can be thinner, and thickness of the LED display can be reduced.
Abstract:
A switched reluctance motor includes an inner stator having a plurality of stator poles with coil windings, the inner stator having a plurality of stator phases, an outer rotor configured to rotate around the inner stator, the outer rotor having a plurality of rotor poles, at least one position sensor configured to detect a position of the outer rotor, and a DC supply configured to sequentially supply current to excite the stator phases.
Abstract:
A medical device includes a sheath defining a lumen, and an elongate member movably disposed within the lumen. The elongate member includes a basket having a plurality of legs, at least one leg of the plurality of legs is disposed between adjacent first and second slots defined by the elongate member. A first distal relief feature at a distal end of the first slot is longitudinally offset from a second distal relief feature at a distal end of the second slot.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to a medical device and methods for immobilizing and retrieving material from a patient's body. The device may include a sheath having a lumen, a distal end, and a proximal end. An elongate member is provided including an expansible member connected to a distal portion of the elongate member. The elongate member and expansible member are movable relative to the sheath to achieve a first state of the expansible member when the expansible member is within the lumen of the sheath and an expanded state when the expansible member extends from the distal end of the sheath. The expansible member comprises a material that expands to the expanded state due to the presence of fluid.
Abstract:
According to an aspect of the present invention, urological medical devices are provided, which contain one or more urologically beneficial agents selected from alpha-adrenergic blockers, calcium channel blockers, and combinations thereof, among others. The urological devices are adapted for implantation or insertion into a subject's urinary tract, whereupon at least a portion of the urologically beneficial agent is released. Such agents are urologically beneficial, for example, in that they may relieve pain and/or discomfort associated with the medical device and/or act as stone expulsion agents (i.e., they facilitate stone passage), among other benefits. According to an aspect of the present invention, a method of treating kidney stones is provided which comprises: (a) diagnosing the presence of kidney stones within a subject and (b) implanting or inserting a urological medical device into the subject which contains at least one urologically beneficial agent. The medical device is adapted to release the at least one urologically beneficial agent in vivo in an amount effective to promote kidney stone expulsion.
