摘要： A ferrite core constituting a deflection yoke has a plurality of ridge-shaped convex portions on an inner circumferential surface. In a cross-section orthogonal to a center axis, the cross-sectional shape of an outer circumferential surface of the ferrite core is substantially circular, and the cross-sectional shape of an inner circumferential surface of the ferrite core excluding the convex portions is substantially circular in the vicinity of an end on a large diameter side of the ferrite core and is substantially rectangular in a portion between the vicinity of an end on a small diameter side and the vicinity of the end on the large diameter side. This can provide a low-cost color picture tube apparatus with a reduced deflection power and satisfactory productivity.

Because of this, PQH misconvergence is corrected without influencing power consumption at low cost by a simple method without using an auxiliary coil and a correction circuit, whereby satisfactory convergence can be realized.

The deflection coils oppose each other across a tube axis of the picture tube, each deflection coil has a plurality of winding turns that are loop-shaped and provided along an inner surface of the resin frame, and each deflection coil is composed of (i) a fixed coil that is fixed to the resin frame and includes an outermost of the winding turns, and (ii) a movable coil that is movably provided with respect to the inner surface of the resin frame. The bias member biases the movable coil toward the tube axis.

The vertical deflection coil is toroidally wound around each of the upper core 6 and the lower core 7. An upper core left coil 32 and an upper core right coil 34 are separated via a first intermediate tap 15, and a lower core left coil 34 and a lower core right coil 35 are separated via a second intermediate tap 26. A variable resistor that is connected to each of the coils in parallel and that is connected to at least either of the first or second intermediate tap 15 or 26 is provided.
