    摘要: A heat exchanger having a plurality of elongated, generally flat tubes is disclosed, each tube including a planar base, a top, and pair of arcuate opposed side portions interposed between the base and the top is disclosed. A partition extends from the top to the base to define a pair of fluid passageways, the partition including a pair of opposing, contacting shoulder portions and a leg portion depending from each of the shoulder portions which contact the base. A first braze receiving of predetermined size is defined between the shoulder portions and the manifold of the heat exchanger. The size of the braze receiving area is controlled by minimizing the curvature of the shoulder portions.

    摘要: There is disclosed herein an apparatus for manufacturing a manifold for a heat exchanger. The apparatus includes a mechanism for forming a generally planar sheet of material into a generally cylindrical member having a seam along the longitudinal length thereof. The apparatus further includes a tool for forming a plurality of tube receiving slots in the cylindrical member and a device for applying a pressure against the seam so as to flatten the seam to provide good sealing contact at the seam.

    摘要: There is disclosed herein a heat exchanger tube having an elongated, generally rectangular member including a planar base, a top, and pair of arcuate opposed side portions interposed between the base and the top. A partition extends from the top to the base to define a pair of fluid passageways, the partition including a pair of opposing, contacting bend portions and a leg portion depending from each of the bend portions which contact the base. Each of the leg portions is disposed at an acute angle relative to a vertical plane and spaced apart a predetermined distance so as define a braze receiving fillet therebetween. A method of manufacturing such a tube is also disclosed.

    摘要: A heat exchange device having a vessel and heat transfer core means including at least two tubular conduits in fluid communication with the vessel, the tubular conduits being spaced apart to form an air passageway therebetween. A spacer member is positioned between and in heat exchange relationship with the tubular conduits, the spacer member comprising a unitary strip of metal corrugated or folded back and forth to form a plurality of fin elements each having an essentially planar base member between the fold edges. Each spacer member has its longitudinal axis in parallel relationsip to the longitudinal axes of the tubular conduits with the fin elements dividing the air passageway between the conduits into a plurality of smaller passageways. Each planar base member has a plurality of louvers therein, the louvers being integral with and extending laterally of the planar base members and arranged in groups having a support portion therebetween.The improvement comprises the unitary strip of metal being very thin with a hem flange extending substantially the length of the strip through the support portions between groups of louvers. The hem flange forms a support column in each planar base member adapted to resist buckling in a direction transversely of the planar base member.The unitary strip of metal has an average thickness of 0.001 to 0.0008 inches minimum and the hem flange thickness is approximately triple the average metal thickness.

    摘要: A manifold and a method of making a manifold for a tube and fin type heat exchanger are disclosed wherein the manifold is a one piece aluminum extrusion. The method includes the steps of extruding the material into a U-shaped channel having a base member and a pair of vertical walls, forming a plurality of fluid conducting passageways in the base member, and rolling the vertical walls toward the longitudinal center of the base member until the free ends of the walls contact the base member to form a pair of hollow longitudinal fluid conduits. The conduit are then crimped at predetermined locations to form fluid baffles and the manifold is then sealed.
