摘要： The electrical nerve stimulation unit in accordance with the present invention generally includes a housing, an input panel, a display panel, a controller, a first channel output, a second channel output, and a power system. While the device is generally described in terms of use as a TENS unit, it must be noted that other nerve stimulation applications for the device are envisioned as well. The myriad of intelligent and proactive programmable software functions and features of the present invention are executed on the controller's microprocessor. For instance, open lead monitoring, soft recovery implementation, compliance monitoring, and enhanced power management are all controlled and monitored through the interfacing of the processor with the various devices and hardware on the unit's hardware platform.

摘要： A method for making sausages comprises coextruding sausage paste and collagen to form a continuous sausage body having an outer tube comprising collagen in surrounding relation to the sausage paste. The continuous sausage body is separated into individual sausage links, each having an exterior surface. The sausage links are transported to an enclosure. The sausage links are loaded into baskets mounted on an endless serpentine belt contained at least in part within the enclosure. The belt is caused to circulate along a serpentine path so that the sausage links are carried boustrophedomically by the baskets through the enclosure, and the baskets are caused to successively change their orientations rotationally as the belt circulates within the enclosure so that different parts of the exterior surface of each sausage link come successively into contact with a concave interior surface of the basket in which that sausage link is carried. Heat is supplied to a selected portion of the enclosure to cook the sausage links. Additionally, the sausage links are treated with natural smoke in a selected portion of the enclosure. This method produces a round sausage having an even mahogany color using a continuous process, while also minimizing the potential for touch marks on the sausage.

摘要： A control system for a laser catheter device wherein the control system is provided with means for determining the intensity of laser beam energy at two points, one of which is at the distal tip end thereof, and with the other being interposed along a transmitting column remote from both the source of laser beam energy and the distal tip. A beam splitter means(dichroic filter) is provided for diverting a first portion of the laser beam energy onto a first detector means. Energy passing through the beam splitter is ultimately directed onto a fluorescent member or device disposed adjacent the distal tip, with the fluorescent member or means being capable of emitting or generating radiant energy at a wavelength significantly different from that of the incident laser beam energy. The radiant energy generated by the fluorescent means is directed onto a second surface of the beam splitter means, and ultimately onto a second detector means. First and second signal processing means responsive to the first and second detector means are utilized to control a shutter, such as a dual shutter, which is arranged to interrupt the passage of laser beam energy through the catheter system upon the occurrence of anomalous levels of laser beam energy at either the first or second detector means.

摘要： A tool both attaches and seals a lead to an body implantable device such as a heart pacemaker, an insulin pump, or the like. The tool includes a handle portion and a first wrench and preferably a second wrench, with each wrench being attached to the handle portion on opposite ends thereof. The first wrench extends first through a cap and then a sealing member, the sealing member preferably made of a silicone rubber. The cap is frictionally held on the first wrench preferably by a cylindrical member circumferentially engaging the cap and fixedly attached to the handle portion. A set screw is preferably detachably attached at the end of the first wrench adjacent the sealing member. To attach the lead to the device, the set screw is threadably inserted into a bore in the device positioned at a substantially right angle to a portion of the lead, and clamps the terminal pin against an inside surface of a terminal block in the device. While the set screw is being inserted within the bore, the cap which is frictionally held by the cylindrical tube is also turned into the bore. When the set screw is turned sufficiently far to attach the electrode to the device, the first wrench is withdrawn, leaving the set screw, the sealing member and the cap within the bore. The tool is then turned around and the second wrench is used to turn the cap a remaining distance into the bore, thus deforming the sealing member such that the sealing member forms a seal around the set screw, which prevents body fluids from seeping past the sealing member and coming into contact with the set screw, the lead or the terminal block.
