Abstract:
A method and system for transmitting/receiving a neighbor base-station information message in a broadband wireless access system. A method includes receiving, by the mobile station, a neighbor BS information message; determining whether or not an operator ID field related to a first neighbor BS is included in the neighbor BS information message; and determining that the first neighbor BS has identical BS information as a serving BS, if the operator ID field is not included in the neighbor BS information message.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for transmitting broadcast service data in a wireless communication system using an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) scheme in which data transmission is achieved through a downlink and an uplink within one frame. The system being connected to a broadcast server. The system and method include allocating a connection identifier (CID) to each broadcast service for identification of a broadcast service packet transmitted over the downlink, and transmitting broadcast service information for each broadcast service; and receiving a broadcast packet from the broadcast server, and transmitting a physical layer transmission information element (DL-MAP) including a broadcast service CID for the broadcast packet through the downlink0.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving a connection identification (CID) in a communication system is provided. Upon detecting a need for its handover, a mobile station (MS) transmits a handover request message to a first base station (BS) in communication with the MS. Upon receiving the handover request message, the first BS transmits at least one CID for connection setup to a second BS to which the MS will perform handover, to the MS along with a handover response message in response to the handover request message. The MS receives the CID through the handover response message.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for providing a broadcast service in a mobile communication system including a plurality of cells. The method includes transmitting broadcast program information related to available broadcast programs, broadcast-related information needed for receiving the available broadcast programs, and broadcast zone identification information, to an access terminal; and transmitting the broadcast service to the access terminal.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for using an Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. In a transmitting method of a wireless communication system, a Media Access Control (MAC) layer creates a packet and transmits it to a physical layer, the physical layer generates a Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) burst using the packet received from the MAC layer and transmits it, the physical layer generates a HARQ ending signal and transmits it to the MAC layer when HARQ transmission of the packet is discontinued, and the MAC layer drives an ARQ retransmission timer for the packet in response to the HARQ ending signal.
Abstract:
A system for providing communication when a mobile station moves between a wireless LAN system and a mobile communication system. A packet data service node provides a packet data service between an IP network and the mobile station when the mobile station accesses the mobile communication system. A packet control function provides the packet data service between a correspondent node connected to the IP network and the mobile station when the mobile station previously connected to the mobile communication system is connected to an access point, and provides the packet data service between the correspondent node connected to the IP network and the mobile station when the mobile station previously connected to the access point is connected to a base station system. An interworking server connected between the access point of the wireless LAN system and the packet control function of the mobile communication system.

Abstract:
A system and method for providing an emergency service in a communication system is provided. A method for providing an emergency service by an idle mode Mobile Station (MS) in a communication system includes receiving, from a Base Station (BS), a broadcast message including information on a time duration in which an emergency service message will be transmitted after waking up at a start timing point of a paging listening interval, transitioning into an idle state when a start timing point of the time duration in which the emergency service message will be transmitted is later than a timing point at which the paging listening interval is terminated, and waking up at the start timing point of the time duration in which the emergency service message will be transmitted after transitioning into the idle state.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for load balancing in a broadband communication system. In an initial network entry/network reentry/handover, whether to allow a user terminal and whether to allow each service flow are checked. The channel state and load state of candidate frequency assignments and subcells are detected. The ranging status of a corresponding frequency assignment or a corresponding subcell is set according to whether to allow the user terminal. The allowable candidate frequency assignment and subcells are selected and transmitted.
