Abstract:
A method of regulating the Wobbe number of a multi-composition gas fuel supplied to one or more combustors of a gas turbine comprising: (a) providing a control system for regulating fuel and air flow to the one or more combustors; and (b) reforming a fraction of the gas fuel upstream of the one or more combustors to form hydrogen and carbon monoxide to be supplied to the one or more combustors with a remaining fraction of the fuel; wherein the fraction of fuel reformed is adjusted to maintain the Wobbe number of the fuel supplied to the one or more combustors within a predetermined range.
Abstract:
A method of reducing acid emissions and ozone deletion precursors from a flue gas produced by the combustion of sulphur-or nitrogen-containing fuel or acid emissions and ozone deletion precursors from chemical plants. The method comprises introducing into a flue containing the gas, an additive derived from the chemical reaction of pyrolysis liquor with an alkaline earth metal compound in the presence of an oxidant. This reaction produces a hydrophobic/hydrophilic mixture containing a plurality of thermolabile alkaline earth metal compounds. These compounds are able to decompose at flue gas temperature to produce an alkaline compound able to react with sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen to eliminate them from the gas.

Abstract:
A combustor for mixing a flow of compressed air from a compressor and a flow of fuel from a fuel source. The combustor may include a first swirler for mixing the flow of compressed air and the flow of fuel into a first fuel-air flow, a second flow source for providing a second flow downstream of the first swirler, and a second swirler for mixing the first fuel-air flow and the second flow.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a turbine system, may include a fuel nozzle, that includes a plurality of fuel passages and a plurality of air passages offset in a downstream direction from the fuel passages. In the embodiment, an air flow from the air passages is configured to intersect with a fuel flow from the fuel passages at an angle to induce swirl and mixing of the air flow and the fuel flow downstream of the fuel nozzle.
