Abstract: An armband that holds an electronic device is presented. The armband includes a pouch which includes a window and an opening configured to allow an electronic device to be inserted into the pouch. The armband also includes an arm strap wherein the proximate end of the arm strap is coupled to the pouch, and wherein the arm strap includes: holes arranged in a specified pattern; loop cells at specified locations along the length of the arm strap; and a hook cell located at a distal end of the arm strap. The armband further includes a ring coupled to the pouch configured to allow the distal end of the arm strap to be passed through the ring and pulled toward the proximate end of the arm strap so that the hook cell can be coupled to one or more loop cells.

Abstract: A substantially planar suspension spring for supporting a linear compressor housed within a hermetic shell. A hub portion (36) connects to the body of the compressor assembly while a spiral arm portion (38) curves around the hub portion (36) at least one full turn before attaching to the wall of the compressor housing. Provides lateral stability to the reciprocating compressor assembly while maintaining axial flexibility.

Abstract: This is directed to systems and methods for detecting the insertion of a plug in a device port without physically contacting the plug. For example, systems and methods are provided for detecting the insertion of an audio plug into an audio jack without using physical contacts placed in the periphery of the audio jack. In some embodiments, an electrically conductive element (e.g., a circuit board trace) can be provided on a surface of the port or within the port wall. When a metallic or conductive plug is inserted into the port, the plug can interact with the conductive element and cause a change in capacitance or induction detected by appropriate circuitry coupled to the conductive element. In some embodiments, an optical sensor can be used to detect a plug placed in a port. In some embodiments, the electronic device can detect distinguishable attributes associated with the contact between the electrical contact of plug and port contacts using an appropriate sensor (e.g., a microphone or an accelerometer).

Abstract: A predictive model, for example, a neural network, evaluates individual debt holder accounts and predicts the amount that will be collected on each account based on learned relationships among known variables. The predictive model is generated using historical data of delinquent debt accounts, the collection methods used to collect the debts in the accounts, and the success of the collection methods. In one embodiment, the predictive model is generated using profiles of delinquent debt accounts summarizing patterns of events in the accounts, and the success of the collection effort in each account. In another embodiment, the predictive model includes a mathematical representation of the collector's notes created during the collection period for each account.

Abstract: A linear compressor includes a cylinder part with a cylinder bore. A piston is disposed in the bore and slidable therein. A main spring connects the cylinder part to the piston. A connecting member connects between the main spring and the piston. The connecting member passes through the air gap of a stator of a linear electric motor. At least one armature pole of the motor is located along the connecting member. The stator comprises a plurality stator parts opposed across the air gap. The cylinder part includes a tapered clamp for each stator part. The tapered clamp widens outward from the air gap. Each stator part has a matching taper and is engaged in the tapered clamp.

Abstract: A combination door handle and security locking system in which the conventional door latch is actuated by turning the five-sided head of an operating shaft with a special socket wrench. A hinge plate having a slot for a padlock bail and a flat index tab on its inner surface is rotated to cover the operating shaft head. The tab must fit against one side of the operating shaft head to allow the hinge plate to be fully closed so that a padlock can be inserted in the bail. The latching mechanism is designed so that this tab will fit against one side of the operating head when the door is fully latched, to thus prevent rotation of the latching mechanism. The free end of the hinge plate has an offset portion which serves both as a sleet hood for the padlock and as a handle for opening the door.
