Abstract:
The invention is a telescopic pole with a locking mechanism to be utilized as a footrest in hot tubs. The invention works by extending said pole in length to reach from one wall to the opposite wall of a hot tub by engaging said locking mechanism said pole is locked to said length +½″ said locked pole is then wedged into place between said hot tub walls.
Abstract:
Connecting rotors in rotary machines, particularly turbines, is generally described. Some aspects of the invention provide for a simplified attachment rotors to each other and/or other components of a turbine assembly, such as, drive shaft, using friction fit.
Abstract:
Improved wind turbine. The turbine includes a rotor supporting a plurality of blades for receiving wind, and means are provided for supporting magnets or high-permeability iron to rotate with the blades and located at the periphery of the blade tips. Stator stricture is located proximate to the blade tips to interact with the magnets or iron to generate electricity.
Abstract:
A capsule camera apparatus includes a swallowable housing, a light source within the housing, a camera within the housing for capturing a first digital image and a second digital image of a view of the camera illuminated by the light source, a a motion detector that detects a motion of the housing the first digital image and the second digital image, and a motion evaluator that selects a disposition of the second digital image, based on a metric on the motion. The disposition may include writing the second image into an archival storage or providing the second digital image to the outside by a wireless communication link.
Abstract:
The invention relates to both a method and a computer system that are designed to provide a bid positioning system using a computerized bid proxy. The bid proxy takes instructions from the bidder and then bids based upon these instructions. Using a bid positioning system allows this bidder to place its bids in relation to a lead bid placed by another bidder in an auction based upon either a nominal or percentage distance from the lead bid. In a preferred embodiment, this computerized bid proxy is used in a shipment management system. This system allows a shipper to present at least one shipping requirement for a particular shipment to a centralized server. These shipping requirements could include the origin and destination of a shipment, the time or delivery date of a shipment, the number of articles being shipped, and the weight or volume of the shipment. The server next sends the at least one shipping requirement to a plurality of carriers some of whom are chosen by the shipper and some of whom are chosen by the system. These carriers next bid based upon the at least one shipping requirement. This system and method also allows these carriers to re-quote their bids based upon the bids presented by the other carriers. Once all of the bid deadline has been reached, the shipper picks the quote that best suits the shipper.
Abstract:
An apparatus for coupling radiation of individual laser diode emitters into a common optical fiber is disclosed. The radiation is collimated along fast axis and combined by using crossed pairs of flat mirrors. The combined beams are collimated by a common slow axis collimating lens. The laser diode emitters are disposed on both sides of an optical axis of the slow axis collimating lens such that the optical path lengths from the emitters to the slow axis collimating lens are equal.
Abstract:
A swallowable capsule with a camera and a memory for imaging the colon. Standard semiconductor memory (memories made of standard memories processes or processes modified from standard process by adopting comprehensible silicon planar technology process steps) is used. This is made possible by the use of an optimal type of image compression that can be performed with limited processing power and limited memory (e.g., without requiring a full size frame buffer). Also, controls on the number of images taken are used in one embodiment.
