Abstract: The present invention relates to a wheel rim comprising at least one track capable of operatively coupling to a spoke and located on an inner surface of the wheel rim. The at least one track in one preferred form is capable of operatively coupling to at least one carriage, which is capable of operatively coupling to the end of a spoke. The carriage in a preferred embodiment is adapted to retain a spoke nipple. The wheel rim is suitable for use with a bicycle wheel.
