    摘要: A method of producing calcium sulfate with a flue gas scrubbing facility having a gas-liquid contactor that uses a calcium-based slurry to absorb sulfur dioxide from a flue gas containing acidic gases, wherein a byproduct containing calcium sulfite precipitate is produced that is accumulated in a reservoir, such as a pond, apart from the gas-liquid contactor. Such a facility is modified to produce calcium sulfate by installing an acidifier vessel and an oxidation receptacle in series between a source of the flue gas and the gas-liquid contactor. The flue gas containing the acidic gases is caused to flow through the acidifier vessel, into which the byproduct is delivered from the reservoir so that some of the acidic gases of the flue gas are absorbed by the byproduct and the pH of the byproduct is sufficiently lowered to allow the calcium sulfite precipitate to dissolve in the byproduct. The flue gas from the acidifier vessel is then delivered to the gas-liquid contactor where sulfur dioxide is absorbed by the calcium-based slurry, and the byproduct from the acidifier vessel is accumulated in the oxidation receptacle. Within the oxidation receptacle, the calcium sulfite dissolved by the byproduct is oxidized to produce calcium sulfate, which is then removed from the oxidation receptacle.

    摘要: A process is provided for removing sulfur dioxide out of gases by feeding the gases into a scrubber, where they are counter-currently contacted with a descending solution containing ammonium hydroxide and ammonium sulfate so that the sulfur dioxide is sorbed into the solution containing ammonium hydroxide and ammonium sulfate and a scrubbed gas is discharged from the scrubber. The sulfur dioxide-loaded solution is collected in a sump at the bottom of the scrubber, where a mixture of ammonia and air is injected into the sulfur dioxide loaded solution so that the ammonia reacts with the sulfur dioxide to produce ammonium sulfite which is (in turn) oxidized by the air into ammonium sulfate. The mixture of air and ammonia is injected into the solution in a direction that is towards the bottom of the sump so that portions of solution containing a higher pH and higher ammonium sulfite levels than the remainder of the solution is avoided, thereby minimizing ammonia slip out of the scrubber.

    摘要: A low thermal conductivity removable heat insulating cover for a cooking utensil lid handle has a hand grip portion for substantially surrounding the lid handle at least along a central portion thereof with a pair of closely adjacent portions depending downwardly from the hand grip portion toward the lid surface and with a protective portion adapted to lie closely adjacent the lid surface covering a region of that surface to form a barrier for preventing a user's hand from contacting the lid when grasping the hand grip portion is disclosed. In one form the protective portion comprises first and second lateral extensions of the ends of the closely adjacent portions remote from the hand grip portion with the cover being formed as a section of an extrusion of substantially uniform cross-sectional configuration. The closely adjacent portions may be releasably joined together by a rib and groove arrangement along the adjoining surfaces thereof. In another form, the hand grip portion is formed as a loop, and that loop extends to also surround the downwardly depending legs of the lid handle with the protective portion extending from the handle along the lid surface beyond the legs. In this form the closely adjacent portions slope inwardly toward one another to form a finger accepting depression near the central portion of the handle.

    摘要: A one piece heat insulating cover for a closed loop cooking utensil handle is disclosed having a body of resilient rubber-like material with low thermal conductivity with a hand grip portion for substantially surrounding the utensil handle and a protective portion which lies adjacent a portion of the utensil main body between the utensil handle and the main body when the hand grip portion is in position about the utensil handle so that the protective portion provides a barrier to prevent a user's hand from contacting the utensil body when grasping the hand grip portion. The hand grip portion is formed as a generally U-shaped hollow tubular member with the protective portion extending between the ends of the U and with the hollow tubular member being slit along an edge thereof between the ends of the U to facilitate placement and removal of the tubular member about the handle. This slit may be joined by a rib and groove fastening arrangement to maintain the slit closed when the grip is in position on a utensil handle.
