    摘要: A method for automatically attaching a bolt for a mortise lock to its draw bar includes the steps of boring a hole longitudinally in the bolt on the axis of the bolt; drilling a hole, having a small diameter relative to that of the bored hole, transversely in the bolt to intersect the bored hole such that the drilled hole is tangent to the wall of the bored hole at its outer edge and intersects the bored hole at the midpoint of the depth of the bored hole; selecting a bar having a diameter which fits snugly in the bored hole; cutting a groove around the bar, the groove having a depth and width substantially equal to the diameter of the drilled hole, and being set back from a first end of the bar a distance substantially equal to half the depth of the bored hole; inserting the bar into the bored hole; and pressing a spring pin into the drilled hole.

    摘要: A knob catch for securing a knob or lever to the driving spindle of a door lock. The knob catch is constructed of a base with a centered odd shaped hole. The hole is made in such a way that the knob or lever cannot be removed when the locking device is in the locked position using a key operated cylinder with a flat locking bar. A tongue portion of the knob catch rises above the base and fits into the knob or lever and keeps the knob or lever from being removed. In the front side of this tongue is an angular surface which permits the knob or lever to be slid over the top of the knob catch until the knob catch tongue and an aperture in the knob or lever align allowing the tongue to be spring biased into the aperture to secure the knob or lever. There are two springs attached to the knob catch to bias the tongue into engagement with the knob or lever aperture.

    摘要: A method is provided for attaching separable mounting tabs to a mortise lock housing, including the steps of providing a hollow mortise lock housing in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with a first side adapted to lie in a door edge and to provide at least one opening for a bolt, providing one slot at each of top and bottom edges, as installed, of the first side of the lock housing, the slots providing narrow openings for capturing mounting tabs at top and bottom corners of the lock housing, providing two mounting tabs, each having a first end portion for mounting an end of the faceplate and a second end for capturable insertion in the slots in the lock housing, the tabs further having a substantially right angle bend between the first end and the second end, orienting the mounting tabs such that the first ends are substantially parallel to the first side of the lock housing and project above and below the top and bottom corners of the first side of the lock housing, respectively, and the second ends are substantially parallel to top and bottom sides of the lock housing, the right angle bends being aligned with the slots, inserting the mounting tabs into the slots to place the second ends thereof in contact with top and bottom sides of the lock housing and to engage means for preventing tipping of the tabs with the first side of the lock housing, and attaching the coverplate to the lock housing.
