Abstract: A voltage regulator includes a first multi-gate transistor, a differential stage, a second stage having a second multi-gate transistor, and a pass transistor to apply an output voltage and output current to a device load. Based on a feedback voltage associated with the output voltage, the differential stage modulates a bias voltage applied to a control electrode of the pass transistor. A first gate of the second multi-gate transistor generates a nominal bias current for the pass transistor, and the second gate adjusts the bias voltage based on an output of the differential stage so that transients in the regulator output voltage resulting from sudden changes in current drawn by the device load are reduced.

Abstract: A linear voltage regulator includes a first transistor, a feedback circuit, and a control circuit. The first transistor includes a first terminal coupled to an input terminal of the regulator, a second terminal coupled to an output terminal of the regulator, and a control terminal. The first transistor is configured to provide a load current to the output terminal at a desired voltage level based on a control signal on the control terminal. The feedback circuit is coupled to the output terminal and is configured to generate a feedback signal based on an actual voltage level at the output terminal. The control circuit is configured to provide, based on the feedback signal, the control signal at a level to substantially maintain an output voltage at the output terminal at the desired voltage level. An operating current of the control circuit is configured to increase, by a limited amount, responsive to a transient increase in the load current.

Abstract: A projector having an image display element for modulating light on the basis of an image signal and a projection lens for projecting light emitted from the image display element on a screen, includes: a lamp which has a light emitting source for emitting light; a reflector which reflects light emitted from the light emitting source; a cover glass which covers an emission surface of light from the reflector; a cooling fan disposed outside the reflector; and an air direction changing unit which changes a direction of cooling air caused by the cooling fan. Abstract: A multiprocessor system includes a plurality of processors, a shared memory shared by the plurality of processors and a contention determiner which manages access to the shared memory by each of the plurality of processors. The processors communicate with each other, exchange information regarding completion of an updating process for updating data in the shared memory and information regarding the failure of the updating process. In the case where the updating process is completed by any other one of the processors, each of the processor reads out the updated data. On the contrary, in the case where any other one of the processors fails in executing the updating process, each of the processors executes the updating process for updating data which has not successfully been updated. Abstract: A simple cooling construction capable of achieving two functions at a time is to be provided, one function being cooling a lamp as a lighting means and the other function being preventing the scatter of broken pieces of the lamp upon burst of the lamp. An image display device such as an LCD projector has been configured such that cooling air is introduced into the interior of a reflector to cool an lamp means. In this connection, the present invention adopts a net of an expanded metal structure which serves as both means for preventing the scatter of broken pieces of a lamp upon burst of the lamp and an air deflecting plate facing a portion to be cooled. The above two functions can be attained simultaneously by such a simple construction.
