According to one aspect, the method includes dividing a screen into a first display region, on which a first broadcast signal is displayed, and a second display region having at least one sub screen, on which a second broadcast signal is displayed, the second broadcast signal being received in response to a channel searching command; and displaying a moving picture on the second display region when the user selects a second display mode, wherein the first display region is overlapped with the second display region, and wherein an on screen display (OSD) having direction key menus responsive to the control command is displayed in order to control the position of display region of the second display region.

    摘要: A local digital TV signal generator is disclosed, which generates an ATSC RF signal that can be received by a digital TV. Synchronization between a memory device and a VSB remodulator is performed through a controller, and data conversion adapted to the VSB modulator is performed so that streams of ATSC standards are read out from MPEG streams stored in the memory device, thereby outputting an RF signal. Accordingly, the local digital TV signal generator has the low cost and a small volume to facilitate movement as compared with the related art. Since the local digital TV signal generator is mounted inside or outside the PC and implemented using an operating system (O/S) for PC, it is simple and easy in installation and use. Furthermore, since the streams stored in the memory device can be reduced without an external device, it is useful in view of aspects such as mobility, economical efficiency, and maintenance. Moreover, since the local digital TV signal generator can receive and store a digital TV signal which is currently broadcasting, various sources can be provided without a separate device. Also, the local digital TV signal generator may be acted as a digital VCR for home use depending on purpose of use, and may be acted as a digital DVD player if a title of a movie, for example, is provided from a DVD to adapt to the ATSC transport standards.

    摘要: A Viterbi decoder for receiving and decoding a signal transmitted through a transmission channel in a vestigial side band (VSB) transmission system, in a high definition television (HDTV), which operates at the same speed as a symbol rate, can simply accomplish a hardware implementation using simplified memory system and a single decoder in order to restore an encoded signal, compared to the conventional art in which 12 decoders are used in restoring the encoded signal. Also, since the memory configuration thereof is regular, when it is intended to extend the observation sections, the memory structure can be extended easily. Moreover, the present invention can be adopted by extending easily to 3-bit 8 state or above as well as to 2-bit 4-state by means of a general Viterbi decoding algorithm.
