    摘要： A disk drive comprises a cartridge holding mechanism which has a small size and reduces a damper load. The disk drive comprises: a spindle motor 91 which mounts and rotates a disk; a traverse base 82 which holds the spindle motor 91; a rubber damper 71 which flexibly holds the traverse base 82; a mechanical chassis 60 which holds the traverse base 82 through the rubber damper 71; a tray 20 which mounts a cartridge 1 in which a disk is housed; and a loading motor 61 which moves the disk in the cartridge 1 close to the spindle motor 91 or away from the spindle motor 91. The cartridge 1 is supported by the mechanical chassis 60 through the tray 20.

    摘要： A disk drive includes a disk rotating unit, a traverse base holding the disk rotating unit, a damper member holding the traverse base, a main unit holding the traverse base through the damper member, a tray mounting a cartridge housing the disk, a driving unit that loads or ejects the tray and moves the disk in the cartridge relative to the disk rotating unit, and a traverse base holding member that is moved vertically by the driving unit relative to the main unit at the time of tray loading or tray ejection. The traverse base is held by the traverse base holding member through the damper member, and the resonance frequencies of the damper member in the radius direction of the disk as it is being loaded and in the direction of a rotation shaft are set higher than the maximum rotational frequency of the disk.

    摘要： An information recording/reproducing apparatus wherein the CPU stores data transferred through an interface in a temporary storage area and later records the data in a recording medium by using a recording/reproducing means. The temporary storage area is divided into first and a second regions by a temporary storage region disposition device. A discriminator determines whether the process-requested region is an information managing region or a data region from the process requests made by the host computer and the temporary storage region managing information. Based on the result of this discrimination, the temporary storage region manager allocates the first region if the data is for information managing or the second region if the data is intended for data storage.

    摘要： An information recording reproducing apparatus is operable with a large-capacity recording medium and is operatively connected to a host computer. The apparatus has a cache memory for temporarily storing therein information transmitted from the host computer, and also has a write-back function and a write-through function. When recording using a write-back function designated by a recording designation flag, the maximum number of substitutions of defective sectors is automatically set to a given value for a write-back operation, and a mode display indicates that a write-back mode has been selected. The write-back operation is inhibited by a write-back inhibit flag according to the frequency of occurrence of the substitutions or the condition of a substitute area to thereby enhance the reliability of recording information.
