Abstract: A device capable of being clamped onto a peripheral edge of a desk or table, that can support reading material in either a horizontal or elevated position for convenient viewing. Said device is composed of a backrest 10 with lower lip 12 that will hold reading material, and spring-loaded clamping mechanism 14, attached to said backrest 10 via hinged clamp lever 16, that allows backrest 10 to be rested flatly or elevated by propping in an upright position with support leg 20. This device can also be used on the top of a worksurface by using spring-loaded clamping mechanism 14 as a supportive base, or folded compactly for easy storage and carrying.

Abstract: A device that can be easily and temporarily locked onto a video cassette to prevent insertion of said video cassette into video equipment. Said device consists of a stiff but flexible locking band 2 shaped to fit widthwise around a video cassette, provisions for securing said locking band 2 onto said video cassette 12, and a retainer cylinder 8 that fits into on cassette reel socket 18 of said video cassette. Holes 6 in front tabs 4 of locking band 2 allow a padlock or other locking device to secure said tabs 4 together, which prevents unauthorized removal of the device. Locking band 2 and retainer cylinder mounting pin 10 will not allow the video cassette to fit into video equipment, which prevents use of said video cassette until the device is removed.

Abstract: The invention claimed herein presents a kit that allows the user to build a functioning model of the type of mechanical hand used in prosthetics and robotics. The finger segments 4 of each digit are connected in a fashion that results in adjustable joints. The completed hand opens and closes via motor and gearbox 8. (FIGS. 1 and 2). Limit switches 38 restrict travel of the fingers to the grip range of the human hand. The hand is operated using a electrical, radio, infrared or digital remote control system, with receiver 22 mounted in the hand and transmitter 28 concealed within a glove or cuff 30 which can be worn by the user (FIG. 2). This system allows the invention to be operated via motion of the user's hand/wrist 36, which actuates a switching means within said glove or cuff. Movement can also be activated via onboard control switch 24.
