A multi-television broadcasting signal receiving apparatus and method thereof are provided. In the apparatus, if aerially transmitted several television broadcasting signals are tuned and the tuned signal is inputted as an IF signal, a microcomputer outputs a different chrominance control signal according to the broadcasting system by using the input IF signal. A chrominance signal amplifying portion varies a color concentration of a detected signal according to the broadcasting system by the chrominance control signal output from the microcomputer so as to discriminate the broadcasting system. The color concentration is automatically corrected without the need of an extra correction circuit by correcting the color concentration of the broadcasting signal discriminated by a preprogrammed different gain according to the broadcasting system of the received signal. This effect can be applied to a television for receiving a plurality of broadcasting signals.

A background-picture compensating circuit using an OSD signal for performing a half tone function without requiring a half tone circuit includes a video signal processor for separating a received composite video signal into R, G, B signals, a microcomputer for muting the R, G, B outputs of the video signal processor upon the receipt of an OSD character display key input to supply a signal for a background picture of the OSD character, and a CRT driver for amplifying respective R, G, B signals from the video signal processor or microcomputer to provide the amplified signals to a cathode of a CRT, in which the microcomputer supplies pulses of a high frequency in response to an input of the signal for the background picture of the OSD character to swiftly repeat On/Off operation of the output of the R, G, B signals of the video signal processor on the background picture of the OSD character for making the background picture level lower than a surrounding level, thereby enabling a display of both an original picture covered by the background picture and the OSD character, simultaneously without any additional half tone circuit.

The present invention cloned a cDNA clone encoding isopentenyl diphosphate (hereafter “IPP”) isomerase (EC 5.3.3.2) from a cDNA library of Hevea brasiliensis latex. The clone has a continuous open reading frame encoding a peptide of 234 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 26.7 kDa. The deduced protein is acidic with an isoelectric point of 4.7 and shows high sequence identity with other IPP isomerases. The recombinant protein expressed in Escherichia coli showed IPP isomerase activity. In vitro rubber biosynthesis assays using washed rubber particle (WRP) deprived of initiating allylic diphosphates were performed with the addition of IPP isomerase in the reaction mixture. Results revealed that the recombinant IPP isomerase is catalytically active in catalyzing the conversion of IPP to DMAPP, a key activation step of the basic five-carbon isoprene unit in rubber biosynthesis. Southern analysis indicated that the IPP isomerase is encoded by two genes in Hevea rubber tree. In Northern blot analysis, two different sizes of transcripts (1.2 and 0.6 kb) were detected from leaf tissues while only one hybridizing band (1.0 kb) was detected from latex. Analyses of RNA extracted from extruded latex and leaf tissues of the trees wounded with nails showed that wounding did not change the transcript level of IPP isomerase.

A method for removing the background noise during reception of weak electric field intensity signals. If the electric field intensity of television broadcast signals received by a main picture receiving section is weak, a PIP (picture in picture) function is released, and the release is displayed to notify it to the user. The electric field intensity of the received television broadcast signals is determined in accordance with the AGC signals of the television broadcast signals which are received by a main picture receiving section. If the electric field intensity is strong, the amplification gain of an LNA is adjusted to a low level, and a PIP function is executed or released, depending upon the user's selection of the PIP function. If the electric field intensity is weak, the amplification gain of an LNA is adjusted to a high level, and a determination is made as to whether the PIP function is being executed. If the PIP function is being executed, the PIP function is released, and the release is displayed in the form of an OSD (on screen display) to notify the release to the user. Therefore, in the present invention, when the electric field intensity of the television broadcast signals of the main picture receiving section is weak, the PIP picture receiving section is disabled, so that the PIP picture receiving section would not generate the spurious radiation, thereby upgrading the picture quality on the screen.

An apparatus and a method for controlling video/audio modes in a video/audio outputting apparatus is provided, in which the audio mode is automatically set in relation to the video mode selected by the user. A judgment is made whether an inputted working command code is a video mode code or an audio mode code. If the working command code thus judged is a video mode code, then it is judged whether it is a custom mode, a standard mode, a movie mode, a dynamic mode or a mild mode. Then a value is set to the video mode code thus judged, and at the same time, a value is set to the audio mode. Meanwhile, if the working command code thus judged is a an audio mode code, then it is judged as to whether it is a custom mode, a standard mode, a movie mode, a music mode or a soft mode. Then a value is set to the audio mode code thus judged. Therefore, according to the invention, when a user watches pictures and listens to sounds and only selects the video mode, the video signals are processed according to the selected video mode, while at the same time the audio signals are automatically processed in an audio mode corresponding to the selected video mode.

A method and device for displaying a back-screen in a video signal processing system does not require a separate back-screen generating circuit in order to display the back-screen. Instead, an on-screen signal for indicating characters is used to display the back-screen. A determination signal is detected to determine whether a video signal input is received, and if the input video signal is not received, a microcomputer generates an extended on-screen signal to display the back-screen. If the video signal input is detected during display of the back-screen, the extended on-screen signal is blocked, stopping display of the back-screen.
