A switch with fastening holes in its housing is stably mounted on the web of a switching device. A plastics fastening element is used, which has three portions with differing diameters and which are inserted with press-fit in the fastening hole of the switch, on opposite sides of the switch, in receiving bores of webs aligned parallel to one other.

The invention relates to a switch configuration that can be used in a receptacle that is equipped with a shield. In this case, the shield can be arranged offset relative to the receptacle within the framework of given tolerances. The novel switch arrangement is used to compensate for the offset of the shield relative to the receptacle with the aid of a cap that is mounted in a floating manner. In this case, the friction of an actuation cap, which actuates a switch via an actuator, is to be kept as low as possible relative to the guide surfaces of the corresponding shield opening.

An improved ignition switch for motor vehicles comprises a common fixed contact, several independent fixed contacts, and several movable bridging contacts. The bridging contacts are individually operated by tappets driven by cams on a rotatable operating member. Guide sleeves mounted in a guide plate restrict the tappet to displacements exclusively in parallel to the axis of rotation of the operating member, thereby preventing transmission of side forces to the bridging contacts. The tappets are unattached to the bridging contacts and guide plates are provided for the bridging contacts to further minimize sideways displacement of these contacts due to off center tappet application. Closing pressure is supplied to the rigid bridging contacts by a separate spring to provide consistent pressure regardless of contact temperature. Bridging contacts, tappets, and guide sleeves are located in parallel to facilitate alignment. The common fixed contact comprises at least two connection arms for attaching power supply cables. The common fixed contact has a flange to improve heat radiation; tappets are made of temperature resistant, heat insulating plastics to prevent damage from high temperatures generated at the contacts.

To provide a power brake having relatively small hysteresis between brake pedal pressure and brake hose pressure and with compact construction, the push rod leading from the brake pedal to the brake master cylinder is divided into an input rod and an output rod. A pressure sensitive element is disposed between the rods and is displacable therewith. The pressure-sensitive element determines the force with which the servo member acts upon the output rod.

An electric switch for operating a windshield wiper and washer system of a motor vehicle has a switch housing, in which a switching member for operating the wiper system in a selected operation mode is swivelably mounted from a neutral position around a first axis in at least one optional position and a switch lever which, for operating the washer system from a neutral position into an operational position, is swivelably mounted on the switching member around a second axis preferably perpendicularly intersecting the first axis. By a single actuation, it is possible by switching on the washer system to also switch on the wiper system. Therefore in a first position, preferably in the neutral position of the switching member, the switch lever, when being swivelled around the second axis into an operation position, is swivelable together with the switching member compulsorily around the first axis at least to such an extent that, after release of the switch lever, the switch lever reaches, together with the switching member, a second position of the switching member.

A fastening device which permits snap-in assembly of a switch to a panel or receiving member includes a resilient latching member connected to the switch housing and adapted to engage a shoulder of the receiving member. A second resilient member serves to urge the resilient latching member into contact with the shoulder. In one embodiment of the invention, the switch housing is inserted into a receiving portion of a control panel and a connector carries at least one resilient latching member adapted to engage a shoulder on the receiving portion. In this embodiment, the connector and panel cooperate to retain the switch.

A quick-break switch in which, for switching-over purposes under the spring force (1) of a switching element, the two individual wedge faces of a wedge surface are felt. In order to render the pressure point more perceptible, in particular when the switch is manually operated, the wedge faces are curved. These curves can also help to improve the switching behavior of the switch with respect to the switching process and contact-making.

A switch lever which is swivellably mounted on the switching member around a second axis which preferably perpendicularly intersects the first axis. An electric contact is movable by swiveling the switch lever around the second axis. To manufacture the electric switch at low cost and to promote a long lifetime for the two stationary contacts acted upon by the electric contact, the electric contact is held on the switch lever and acts upon the two stationary contacts at different points in at least two different switching positions of the switching member when swiveling the switch lever relative to the switching member.
