Abstract: A method is described for forming a full-color output image from a color filter array image comprising capturing an image using an image sensor including panchromatic pixels and color pixels having at least two different color responses, the pixels being arranged in a rectangular minimal repeating unit wherein for a first color response, the color pixels having the first color response alternate with panchromatic pixels in at least two directions, and for each of the other color responses there is at least one row, column or diagonal of the repeating pattern that only has color pixels of the given color response and panchromatic pixels. The method further comprising, computing an interpolated panchromatic image from the color filter array image; computing an interpolated color image from the color filter array image; and forming the full color output image from the interpolated panchromatic image and the interpolated color image.

Abstract: A method of minimizing color aliasing artifacts from a color digital image having color pixels is disclosed. The method includes providing luminance and chrominance signals from the color digital image; using the luminance and chrominance signals to compute neighborhoods of pixels which are to be processed and wherein such neighborhoods of pixels are substantially bounded by pixels defining edges; producing low frequency chrominance signals in response to the chrominance signals; using the low frequency chrominance signals and the computed neighborhood of pixels to produce noise-cleaned chrominance signals; upsampling the noise-cleaned chrominance signals to produce upsampled noise-cleaned chrominance signals; and using the luminance signals and the upsampled noise-cleaned chrominance signals to provide a color digital image having reduced color aliasing artifacts.

Abstract: A pay telephone message system is disclosed that includes a voice message system storing and forwarding to a destination telephone a voice message left by a user. Call information including the destination telephone number is routed out-of-band, that is, in a data or service request channel separate from the voice channel, over a packet concentrator network separate from the voice telephone network. During operation a message telephone call is placed to the voice message system over the existing telephone network. The call information is routed over the concentrator network as a voice message service request. The voice message system returns a token, a call identifier or service request number, corresponding to the service request to the pay telephone interface making the request and handling the pay telephone call. The interface sends the token in-band over the telephone network to the voice message system prior to allowing the pay telephone user to store a message. The token allows the voice message system to correlate the incoming voice message with the call information.
