A bushing formed of insulation that can be installed in holes drilled in wood framing components, used to construct a building, such as a dwelling, these holes are drilled so plumbing pipes & electrical wiring can be installed in said framing components.Purpose of this invention is to close off & insulate these holes before the articles are installed, or after they are installed, either method would greatly reduce infiltration & heat transfer through these necessary drilled holes, reducing the energy usage in said building, helping our Countries energy conservation program.

A method of providing thermal insulation in relatively small spaces, such as the spaces between window and door frames and the structural members forming the rough openings therefor, comprises use of a prefabricated compressed-insulation tape, which may be secured at the factory to the outer periphery of the window or door frame, or to the inner periphery of the rough opening on the building site, the tape comprising a strip of any suitable compressible insulation material, such as spun glass or polyurethane, for example, retained in a compressed state by means such as a paper or plastic envelope, the envelope having at least one rip cord, whereby when the rip cord is pulled after installation of the window or door frame to rip the envelope longitudinally off the tape, the compressed insulation expands to fill the air gap space between the frame and the rough opening structure to provide thermal insulation therefor.

This disclosure is an automated method of opening and closing thermal insulation shutters used in combination with glass windows, glass sliding doors, glass walls or solar panels and the like disposed, in large buildings such as green houses, high rise commercial buildings, super markets, auto show rooms Etc. it would be advantageous to have an automated method to open and close the shutters, using electrical controls, or even computer program means to control the movement of the shutters, the shutters could be opened or closed on demand to suit the building energy requirements, allowing solar energy to enter depending on the conditions required but regardless, by removing the human element the thermal insulation shutters would become more efficient, when used to cover solar panels to improve efficiency, they would open by a light control switch to allow solar energy to heat the solar collectors and close when light is reduced to a predetermined level thereby allowing the solar collector to remain hot for longer periods of time improving the overall efficiency, thusly reducing the amount of conventional energy used to heat or cool said buildings, dwellings or commercial, our countries energy conservation program would be greatly enhanced.

A solar panel device for use in combination with a window unit including a window frame and glass panels mounted in the window frame. The device is comprised of a shutter unit having one or more sets of horizontally and parallel extending tracks which are vertically spaced a distance at least equal to the height dimension of the window unit. The tracks extend parallel to the plane of the glass panel and beyond at least one of the side edges of the window unit. A laminate insulative shield is mounted in the track for movement between positions at the side of the window unit and in front thereof to block off the entirety of the glass panel. The laminate insulative shield includes a frame movably supported on the track and has an imperforate surface layer and an insulation material layer mounted side-by-side in the frame. The imperforate surface provides a rigidifying support for the rather fragile insulation material. A seal structure is provided for effecting a seal around the periphery of the glass panel and between the window unit and the insulative shield. A passageway is provided into and out of a chamber defined between the glass panel and the shield to facilitate the flow of fluid through the chamber. A solar energy absorbing material is applied to the imperforate surface.
